Anyone apply for UCF nursing 2011 at Daytona Beach?

Oh, Im pretty sure someone posted they got theirs on the 26th, but maybe Im wrong. I think I may call Maureen today but I dont think she has any information about acceptance letters since that is all done from the main campus right? I just wanna know already!!!!! :confused:

Ah, yeah it as the 26th, I just failed at remembering dates. I just looked back in my e-mail. She was able to tell us, or at least call them and ask. And she'll usually do that for you. She really is seriously amazing to have around!

Just got some bad news. I called the College of Nursing at the main campus and the woman said that the applications are still being reviewed and that emails are not going to be sent out until sometime next week! She said just based on the sheer number of applicants this year is causing the delay. And so we wait... :cool:

Thanks so much for finding out for us! Well, we can at least stop checking our email every 5 minutes and just enjoy the weekend knowing that it will be next week. Good luck to all of us!

I would still honestly call Maureen just to be sure. I got two different answers last year between main campus and Maureen. And Maureen's sounded a lot less like an excuse than what the girl answering phones told me!

Hi everyone! I am Sarah and I am planning on applying to UCF's Orlando Basic RN program. I have a few questions that I would love for you guys to answer. I have my Pre-Nursing, I graduated with a 3.57 GPA, and I have all of the pre-reqs done.

Here are my grades for the pre-reqs: CHM1045 C / CHM1045L A

MCB1000 A / MCB1000L A

BSC1093(ANATOMY&PHYSIOLOGY 1) A / BSC1093L A

BSC1094 (ANATOMY 2) A / BSC1094L B

PYS2012 B

DEP2004 B

* How many volunteer hours is required? (So far I have 45 hours)

* When do I need to apply if I want to start Fall term? (Or may be Summer term)

* How difficult is it to get into the program?

* Is the program tough or is it manageable if you study and follow the instructors?

* Do the instructors ACTUALLY teach or do you have to teach yourself? (The RN program that's here in my city DOES NOT TEACH THE STUDENTS!)

* Should I retake DEP2004, PSY2012, CHM1045, HUN1201, AND BSC1094L so that I can raise my GPA?

* What else do I need to apply to this program?

I'm pretty sure the requirements for Orlando's program are the same, and we didn't need any volunteer hours. You have to take the TEAS test and do well - this is heavily figured into your application. Keep in mind, the Orlando campus gets a LOT more applicants for the nursing program than the Cocoa and Daytona regional campuses. Because of this, the GPA requirement is generally a bit higher to get in. So say you might be able to get in with a 3.4 or something at a regional campus, you may need a 3.7 to get in at the Orlando campus (just an example, I don't know the figures!!)

Again, I can't speak for the other two campuses, but at Daytona the instructors DEFINITELY teach you. And they keep their eye on your progress, which is possible because there are only 36 students in the regional nursing class. If you're in danger of failing, they know who you are and they seek you out and discuss any options you may have. And they're all fantastic. I couldn't be happier with my choice of school :)

Orlando's BSN program starts in the Fall semester and the application is open from December 1 to February 15. Daytona and Cocoa's programs start in the Spring and the application is open from May 15 to July 1. For Orlando you'd start Fall 2012 and regional you'd start January 2013. There is no summer start.

The program is a cohort, meaning you start with your classmates and stay with them through the entire program. You do not have much flexibility with schedule, at least in Daytona - they tell us what classes to register for and what sections, and we just show up. There is no negotiating times and days of classes or picking a particular instructor here. This may be different for Orlando, I don't really know.

The program is definitely tough, but it's manageable or no one would graduate For example, you know how when they told you college is going to be much harder than high school and it was such a breeze? Well when they tell you nursing school will be intense and you won't have time for anything, they're not exaggerating in the slightest. But it's a lot of fun and a very worthwhile experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Except maybe my RN license haha.

I want to CRY!!! I got my email of reject and found out I forgot to show them my TEAS score. I hope you all havn't got any accept email yet. I am gonna show them my TEAS score and hope to be at least on a waiting list. PLEASE.......

OMG Demi, I am so sorry! Did you just get an email tonight? I am surprised they didn't let you know your application was incomplete before the deadline. You definately need to call them first thing tomorrow and see if they will let you submit your scores. Did you have the test proctored through ATI? If you did you can have it electronically sent immediately if they will accept it. I'm really sorry to hear this Demi, I'm hoping it goes well for you.

That happened to me last semester when I applied to the Orlando campus. I turned everything in except for my TEAS test. I am so sorry to hear about that. But, I was wondering has anyone else heard about being accepted or denied??
