Hi all! I also posted this thread in the Nursing Student forum, but haven't gotten any replies, so I thought I would post here in hopes of getting back at least one reply!
I applied for the fall semester at the Baptist School of Health Professions evening/weekend program in San Antonio. Looks like I won't be able to quit my day job like I had hoped, so that is the reason for me applying to the evening program. I would like to know if anyone else has applied for this program for the fall semester, or if anyone is currently doing the evening/weekend program while holding a full-time job during the day. How is the work load? How are the Saturday clinicals? I'm aware this is going to be a challenge, but I'm very willing and ready, and very excited!!
I appreciate any feedback...thanks! :)
I am really happy with Baptist. The instructors are great and are always willing to help. Mr. Flores is the instructor for 1st semester and everybody loves him. The administrative staff is super helpful in making sure you get your financial aide and scholorships in order.
I think you will be very pleased with the school.
If you have any paticular questions feel free to ask.

I will be attending the evening classes for professional nursing at Baptist. I'm very excited but also nervous about juggling school, family, and running a house hold. I'm afraid I may have to let my grade expectations go a little! I'll be attending the in-processing on July 3rd. Maybe I will see you there.
All we did was take a tour of the building where they showed us labs, classrooms and where we will be doing some of our clinicals. We also had a packet of paperwork that they made up fill out and sign, we had to pay $300 dollars that day and also take our picture that will go on our ID badge...kind of exciting! haha. Oh, and we have to take a drug test that is due within 48 hours..but since you were out of town obviously yours will be due at a later date. I think that was pretty much it!
Hello all! I am currently in the RN evening/weekend program at Baptist. I am lucky enough to not have to work since I have my GI Bill (veterans benefits). I applied for the night program but actually got accepted into the days program! I don't know if it was an error on their part or if evenings was all full so I called over there and luckily got switched over to evenings. Don't assume you got evenings just because you applied for it. The acceptance letter should specify. If you have good grades and you are all finished with the pre-reqs you should have a good chance of getting in. The only problem is that the evening program is so small so AND they have to keep it small in the beginning since the LVN to RN students will become part of your class during the 2nd semester. I like the evening program and I had to do it since my husband works days. The saturday clinicals are totally fine and I like it becasue it's more like a real work day for a nurse. You are there all day and you learn a ton in a short period of time. I can tell you that it's going to be killer working full time at the same time unless you are a STELLAR student. Those in my class who work full time say they never get enough time to read or study and are always teetering and super stressed out. The amount of reading is crazy!!! You can't skim either. They ask anything on those tests, so you have to read every word and every box and table, etc, etc. We did have a girl in my class who worked full time and said she didn't have time to read word for word and she was in tears after some tests. We lost 3 people the first semester (1 worked full time and another worked part time). We lost no one the 2nd semester!! We have one girl who was a full time elementary school teacher and she was totally keeping up with her grades but she still ended up quitting becasue she hated being a teacher (hence the reason going to nursing school) Anyway, I hope this helps a little. It's all what you can handle personally, everyone is different. Budget your money! Perhaps if you are married your spouse can pick up some slack for you so you can go down to part-time (and you will more than make up for it when you get your RN). Just ideas.
