U.S.A. Wisconsin

I just applied to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Online Accelerated BS to BSN program. The next cohort will start May 2009. I am excited and curious if any one else is out there applying or if any one else is in the program now. If so how is it?

Hi anders36 :)

Quick question - What did the email that you recieved say? I was sent an email saying they've recieved my application, but nothing regarding an interview... I hope that's not bad news...

Cari--it was actually 2 separate e-mails, one entitled "Application Received," the other was called "Scheduling Your Online Interview." I received them within 24 hours of one another, so I don't know why they are being so slow with yours. Sorry I'm no help :(

No you're helpful Anders! Thanks for the quick reply and good luck:)

Cari, Don't worry - you will get notified. I was just notified today for an online interview which I declined since I am going to another program instead. From what I was told, everyone gets the online interview(if you application is complete). I would think you would also get the phone interview as well.. Don't worry as nursing schools are notoriously slow with all of this stuff. It's part of the agony of getting into a program. Good luck to you.

I just got an email for scheduling a phone interview but I'm wondering how many of the applicants get to that point. Any one else at that interview step yet? Each one is for about 20 minutes so that is a huge time commitment for the interviewers.

Specializes in Hospice.

again I would say that a large portion of applicants get a phone interview. However if you are a 2nd time applicant you do not get a phone interview at all. (unless your first interview was not one that reflected well on you)

Good luck to you all. I think the phone interview is the hardest part because you don't get a lot of feedback.(although the 'leadership' has changed and so the feel of it might be slightly different)

My suggestion is to have a friend call you and do a mock interview on the phone. The main part of the phone interview is about your ability to committ to a strenuous program. So know the information they send you well and really know ahead of time how and even if you can committ to such a time consuming program.

Its a GREAT program. I almost didn't do it and I am so glad that i did. i have zero regrets. Its really a program that respects the adult learner and it has a great reputation among most hosptials that have participated. I know that its a hassle to get into but i read all the post on these boards about colleges weeding out and being cruel to students ect.... this program doesn't have to do that because they do it through their selection process.....after that they are your biggest allies! Good luck!!!!

By what time do they usually get all the online interviews scheduled? I haven't heard anything yet, but I also submitted my application at the last minute. I would think that I would at least get an online interview. I meet all of the requirements. I am starting to worry, though.

Heathbar... Don't worry. They have tons of applicants this year, so I was told it will take longer than normal. I think you'll get one if everything made it.

heathbar--I sent an e-mail asking how long the applications/interviews took to process, and the response I was given stated that applications are usually processed in the order they are received, and for phone interviews, applicants with CNA experience are interviewed first.

I had my online interview 3 weeks ago, but still haven't heard a thing about a phone interview...

so if it makes you feel any better, you're not alone in your worrying and waiting :)

I guess we'll see what happens in June!

Anders, do you have CNA experience and all of your courses completed?

Cari-I will have all of my coursework finished in a week, and have a 4.0 GPA for the prerequisites completed.

I have no CNA experience, but I've been a pharmacy technician for 6 years, so I hope that will weigh in my favor since nobody would hire me for a CNA job because of pregnancy :(

I'm sure you will be fine Anders.. It sounds like you have some good experience without the CNA experience. Good luck to you.

I am scheduled to take my phone interview soon. Has anyone been through it yet? If so, what is it like?
