Hi everyone--
Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?
Crossing my fingers...!
whoa, dude, chill out. i've been lurking on these boards for a while too. i am waiting to hear whether i got an interview. i applied to the midwifery specialty. i am currently a doula. anyone else?there's way too much aggression going on here. what happened? i hope that last response was about being anxious for the letter from ucsf. i don't think yup was saying anything that some of us here on this board haven't already thought. i'm going to go out on a limb and say that i've been offended by some of the posts by newtonian, which have seemed rather arrogant at times. don't you think you might have over reacted just a bit in your response? maybe we will be classmates one day, and i hope so because you sound like you have a lot to offer the nursing profession. i read all the way back to the first posting on this thread and everyone seems so supportive of each other each year. let's keep it that way people!

No dude, you got it all wrong; there's plenty of support here as well as rebuttals in order to set things straight. How did I offend you anyway? Could you please be more specific? Whatever it was, it's not my intention to offend anyone here. I would certainly hope that your feelings don't get hurt that easily or you'll have a tough time as a nurse. I wish you the best in the meantime. To 1bluevelvetgal: welcome to the thread. I'm glad I could be of service by keeping you entertained as you wait. Good luck to you as well. Peace out.
I have to hand to you my dear....you are pretty dynamic!
Hi Karla,
I also applied for the midwifery track, and am a doula as well, hence the screen name;) I haven't taken clients for the past few months because I've been knee-deep in pre-reqs (I'm applying to OHSU, too), and I really miss birth!! It'll be nice to actually start a program and be on my way to attending births again... Did you apply to any other schools? Waiting to hear from UCSF is definitely stressful, but my heart is set on OHSU. Good luck to you!!
Hello everyone! I applied to the FNP specialty. Did anyone else? I was a bit hesitant at first, since I kept reading about how competitive of a specialty it was. Also, I'm wondering what constitutes direct patient care experience. I keep reading about how important it is. I've been volunteering as a counselor for the past couple of years in a free clinic. Does that count?

Hi Liz.C-
I've also applied to the FNP track! It's my impression that direct patient care can take many forms - including working with patients as a counselor or something more hands-on (like taking vitals signs and wound care, for instance). I definitely think your experience as a counselor (especially at a free clinic) counts! I'm currently doing something very similar (I'm a parent educator for a non-profit agency), so we'll see!

Hi Iris! I've applied for the pediatric specialty too! I've been lurking for awhile here too and keeping up with these threads. I must say their quite a trip! Love the back and forth between Newtonion and Yup. Takes my mind off the jitters from waiting for an interview. Newtonion's obviously smart and he's actually pretty supportive I think. That's not aggression, its just his way of expressing himself is all. My dad's been a New York City cop for the past 15 years so I know.
Keep em coming guys! I'm so excited to come out to california and can't wait to meet you all soon! *hugs*
