Hi everyone--
Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?
Crossing my fingers...!
It's only three weeks away folks. Let's try to be positive. I wonder how many applicants they have this year. I have prepared for the worst, yet also have hope. Does anyone feel this way? There are so many talented people in this forum, yet some lack heart. I sometimes laughed reading this forum. It's almost like going to an audition, where people are pretending to be your friends, but really don't want you to succeed. Flattering GPAs and GRE scores. As far as I know, we are all under the same stars. How about a heart anyone?
Amen my dear....we are all freaking out hoping that by some strange luck, we get interviews. We all have completely different backgrounds/education/life experience and who is too say what the common thread will be.
I work with 3 MEPNs at my hospital and they all have very different stories to share about their "pre nursing" days.
One is a recent UC Davis college graduate, another is a seasoned LCSW, and the third is a ex- soil science major who subsequently volunteered as an aid in Iraq. There is no common denominator, but all three of them are fantastic nurses.
Lets keep our chins up, because we all have a lot to offer

You can have all the pills and treatment in the world but if you lack hope, your prognosis is bleak. On the other hand, let someone have enormous hope in the face of certain death and somehow that person will miraculously pull through against all odds.
We all have different belief systems on this board, so let's try to keep that in mind. And no matter how much hope you have, how much you pray, faith doesn't always work the miracles you hope it will. Attitude is only part of the battle. My father was an incredible man of faith who died of lung cancer two months ago. All the prayers in the world couldn't stop one of the most aggressive cancers his doctors had ever seen from destroying his body. I think where faith (of whatever kind) comes into play is how it helps people cope with the challenges and trials we face in this life.
I know I've digressed but I just wanted to throw that out there. Not everything happens for a reason. I learned that the hard way. So we'll all have hope, we'll all have heart, we'll all be nervous, but I think anyone who doesn't get an interview is entitled to disappointment and should be encouraged to try again!
There is a current MEPN student who is blogging about her experiences in the program...I know a lot of people on here have probably already seen it, but I thought I'd put the link up for those who haven't seen it. (Sorry if this is a redundant post, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else)
