Hi everyone--
Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?
Crossing my fingers...!
Thanks for the advice. I sent an email to UCSF and received a response that my letters had been received. They didn't explicitly say that my application was complete, but they did say that they received the missing letters.
And Newtonian: the only thing I have been relying on other people to do for me is write recommendation letters. I can't exactly do that myself, and since my references live in other states and countries a request over email and the phone was the best I could do. Thanks for your concern though.
I would argue that by completing what was asked of her, she was following up. It also explicitly states on the site to NOT call requesting status on your application.
Regardless, rwbabycatcher, the same thing happened to me (my package from one recommender had been caught in a mail chute and torn). They emailed me to tell me that they were missing a letter and to make sure it was faxed/emailed within 3 days. I followed their directions to a T, as you did (their directions didn't state anything about dragging my bee-hind up to UCSF). I had to break the rules and call to confirm that the letter had been received. After that, I didn't receive the email or hard copy letter letting me know my application was complete, I had to call again in order for them to tell me my application had been reviewed.
I wouldn't worry about it. I think that they are so inundated with applications that their counted your compliance with sending in the missing information as confirmation. Good luck!

Thanks for your post, but it wasn't me who had the concern, it was rwbabycatcher :)
It's only three weeks away folks. Let's try to be positive. I wonder how many applicants they have this year. I have prepared for the worst, yet also have hope. Does anyone feel this way? There are so many talented people in this forum, yet some lack heart. I sometimes laughed reading this forum. It's almost like going to an audition, where people are pretending to be your friends, but really don't want you to succeed. Flattering GPAs and GRE scores. As far as I know, we are all under the same stars. How about a heart anyone?
I agree - it's a crazy waiting game. I really hope and would like to believe that we are in this together and that we'll wish each other the best, whatever happens. I'm teetering between trying not to make a big deal out of this but also knowing how much I want it.
The other schools I applied to are great but UCSF just stands out for so many reasons.
It seems like there are a lot of ACNP folks on here. Out of curiosity, did anybody else choose Acute Care peds specifically?
When you get your letters, make sure to post so we can stalk our postal carriers. Hopefully we'll all get an interview and can meet for a drink in January. :)

I agree ... just give them a call to confirm that they received the rec letters. They may not have e-mailed you a confirmation because they e-mailed you the reminder about the missing letters instead. It's possible that they don't follow up with every person who was missing application materials once the materials come in.Good luck!
