Any UAB NP students/graduates?

I am considering applying to UAB online either ANP or ACNP and was wondering if anyone could comment on the program? How do they like it? How much time committed per week? Full or part-time? Is the faculty readily available to help/answer questions? Also, I'm having a difficult time deciding between ANP or ACNP. Is it true that if you are ACNP you can sit for the ANP test as well? I'm leaning towards ANP, but have 8+ years in SICU, so thinking ACNP would be better suiting. However, I'm thinking about post-graduation and finding a job and having reasonable hours with no call. Anyone have any thoughts?

Does anyone know anybody that is in or going to be in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner primary care program at UAB???

No, I'm starting in the Fall as well. I found this forum because I was searching for what book to buy for Advanced Patho. I am out of state (MS) and I'm worried about being completely in the dark. I have alot of questions about tons of stuff, but still haven't been contacted by my advisor!

Ya I'm from TN and I have not been contacted by my advisor either. I'm taking research and stats first.

Hey guys, I am admitted to Adult for fall. I haven't heard from my advisor either. I have done several of the paperwork tasks, drug test, background check and started gathering my immunization records. Anyone know where we fax the FERPA form and who can serve as a witness?

I have also been accepted into the ANP program at UAB. I faxed all the forms, did the UDS and background check. I just received my ID # late Friday, so hopefully Monday I will be able to upload my immunizations and health documents. Have you been cleared to registered yet? I'm doing a post-masters as a parttime student, and am taking Patho in the fall.

We should keep in touch!! I have faxed in everything except for my physical which I will have today after my doctor's appt. I just accepted my financial aid rewards Friday and then you have to fill out some other things related to financial aid and have all your other paperwork in before they will clear you to register. I would like to go ahead and buy the book as well. Are we sure it is the book mentioned above? Also, still haven't heard from my advisor!!

I am waiting to get entered in the system so i can upload my health stuff. I don't plan on using financial aid side hopefully i will.get cleared fast. If i don't get cleared and registered by next week im going to the other school i was admitted to. I have not been to impressed by uabs commmunication and guidance so far. I've had to call about every step bc important info was not given to me. I feel likeam having to beg to get basic thins accomplished. I m leaving for Brazil on august 4 for a week and want all of this to be settled and to be in patho registered before i leave. Dana

Well so far I haven't had any problems with communications. As of this evening I finished everything so I should be able to register soon. I am excited to get started!! Which other program are you thinking about attending?

You're lucky...I received my acceptance letter( no packet just a lonely letter) and it took over a week for me to get the uds background information/email. I had to call about my pos, which wasn't included in my packet. It took me 3 days to get someone the phone, and I still don't have an official copy signed yet. I was never given a blazer number and had to call/email people to get one in order to

upload my health info. I received a number Friday evening, and it's still not in the system. Hopefully in the am it will be activated...If not I'll be on the phone again. I'm not sure why

I'm experiencing difficulties...I just want the info to submit what is required. The sad thing is I was looking forward to this program , but have felt only anxiety. The other programs were Saint Louis University...which I have declined their offer, and USA, which I accepted the offer, and am ready to register without holds on August 1. I would like to make UAB work but I'm slowly losing hope .
