Any tips for a new synthesis student?

Published

Hi everyone! So I still can't believe it, but I just start my final course and I graduate in just 8 weeks! I'm so excited about my synthesis placement, yet so nervous at the same time :wideyed:

Anyway, I just joined here and thought I'd ask all of you wonderful nurses (and students) for any tips you may have for me. Anything you can think of that will help me make this synthesis experience the best it can be, please share!

What is a "synthesis" experience? Is it your preceptorship?

Yes, "nursing synthesis" is the course name for our preceptorship at my school. Sorry, I forgot it's not called that everywhere.

What unit/area will you be doing your preceptorship?

I'm in OB. The unit is an LDRP so I'll be seeing patients before, during and after delivery. I really like that since during my OB clinicals L & D and postpartum were separate. I'm also on night shift...never pulled an all-nighter before, but I guess I am now! My preceptor seems really nice though and I can't wait to start next week :)
