Any Texas LVN!?

Published

Just wondering if there’s any LVNs here from Texas and where you work. I recently relocated and went on my first interview and was turned away instantly because I was a new grad. So just wondering where are some places you can where here ? thanks !

I'm not in Texas, but I am a new LVN in CA. I received my license in September of 2018 and I too was having a difficult time finding a job. I totally understand how you feel about home care, I felt the same way, very scared. However in November of 2018 I decided to give it a shot! I absolutely love it. One patient to care for, shift care, pay is $24 and hour. It's super easy. Of course every patient/case is different. You just have to find the right one that works for you. You need to remember that that patient's in home care, are stable, otherwise they would be in the hospital. They require your skills as a nurse. You are there to perform those skills such as med pass, GT tube care, catheter care, trach or vent. The important thing is to monitor their status, recognize any change in their condition, which you will, by doing as assessment and taking vitals. Perform any nursing interventions within your scope of practice and report any change in condition. Also, you will have an RN supervisor, which is super helpful, you can call or text any questions. Home health care agencies always have someone on call. Let us know how it goes, best of luck!

I recently graduated in December '18 and got my license in January of '19 and it took me 2 and a half months to find a job in dialysis as a LVN. It is crazy busy and crazy long hours, but they did train me and pay is about 23 and hour. Hope all worked out for you.

Congratulations and welcome to nursing! It is harder to find a job if you didn't have it lined up but SNF/Rehab is great. If you can find a hospital position, the experience is great. Keep trying and I think you'll find a good fit. Good Luck!

Hi Amanda! I'm also a new LVN in the DFW area. I was recently hired at a pediatric home health agency called Angels of Care. I think you should look into this agency if you're interested in pediatrics. You can work prn, part-time or full-time which is great if you're going back to get your RN. The fastest way to get an interview is to go to their Facebook job postings page and leave a comment that you're looking for cases in the DFW area. A recruiter will contact you to see what you're looking for and give you information about an onsite interview/orientation process at one of their locations.

I actually got hired as a new grad 6 months ago in dialysis. They are always looking to hire and they train. A lot of my classmates got into LTC right after graduation. Good luck to you!!

I don't know if you have a CarwNow near you but they hire new grads.

The Veterans Health Administration hires new LVN's too
