I received my acceptance letter last Saturday! I'm super excited! :nurse:

I got in for Fall 2011 start! Bumping for the fun and excitement of it all. I started getting my supplies and started ordering books off ebay. How are summer classes going??

Hey IUPUI nursing students! I just got my acceptance letter in the mail for Spring 2012 ABSN Program at IUPUI! I am so excited and very nervous! I just wanted to check with students that are currently in the program to see how everything is going and to see if you have any advice for someone like me!?

Lots of caffeine and lots of sugar. Little rest!

Congratulations!

Study hard and remember don't plan anything the first six weeks of summer! It will be the hardest time of your life! Also use time mgmt and just do what you have to.

Congrats on being accepted! Hope to see you Fall 2012!

Do you have any recommendations for which block to sign up for for the first semester? I think the only main difference is the hospital: either IU Health, Wishard, and St. Vincent are my choices.

Hmmm....i think you will get a good experience at all of them! Which ever you are closet to and you can't ever go wrong downtown.

Do whatever is easiest for you drive-time wise. They are all pretty similar for fundamentals. First semester flies by and is full of group projects, learning basics, and busy work. It really is busy but not that difficult. I just started in August. If you have any other questions, ask!

I will tell you that I went to VA for fundamentals and we were turning circles around our classmates. So your location does have something to do with it. I originally choose Wishard and it changed to the VA last minute. Honestly, I did more at the VA than I did at Methodist for my med/surg I clinicals. Good Luck!

Oh and one last piece of advice....DON'T plan anything the first six weeks of summer! Med/surg in the summer is a feeling I can't explain and you will possibly want to quit nursing school all together, but don't! lol! It was pure hell and my classmates and I studied everyday, all day!

I had no idea that you could even do clinical's at the VA, that is pretty cool. I absolutely LOVE all the advice, keep it coming! Are any of the current ABSN students going to be at our orientation in January?

Yep! You can go to the VA! Our program has been known for switching things up last minute, but it's all good. You will see me at the orientation, I do all of them for ABSN! Hope to see you! And please ask more questions, I will answer what I can.
