The first week was so, so. It's starting to pick up, but the first semester doesn't seem like it will be bad. It's every semester after that! :)

Scholarships are based on GPA and an essay. You will then be chosen for an interview and it's determined from that. The deadline hasn't approached, so we don't know yet.

bumping :) I am working on my application for Fall 2011 and just wanting to check in on all you ABSNers. How is it going? What is your schedule like? Are you happy with the program so far??

It's been a fantastic semester so far. I can only speak for myself but I am really enjoying school at IUPUI, even though it's quite stressful at times (this is a busy semester as far as getting a bunch of beginning nursing classes out of the way, then the real fun starts this summer!). But it's manageable.

One thing - if you do start in the Fall of 2011 I hope you can get a Q & A at orientation with some accelerated students, if you go into that program - at our orientation we only had traditional students to ask questions about school and it's kind of apples and oranges difference due to the time frame and how the semesters work, and so on. I may try to volunteer to speak at an orientation after summer (when I have another semester under my belt) to answer questions about juggling work, school and family, and things like that.

Good luck!

That would be so great if you could speak at the orientation (hopefully I will be there!!). I have a 3 year old and a supportive husband, but I know that I am going to be juggling difficult schedules (with daycare) to meet the start and end times for clinicals. The 7am to 7pm clinicals worry me because daycares are just not open those hours. Plus, being in school, money isn't just flowing in...you know!

Any advice or ideas (not sure if you have kids) but you have been through clinicals...what are the hours like? I assume you have to be downtown by 7am...right?

For those of you living in/around Indy, what are good, safe, affordable places to live? I just got accepted into the program and start in May but am at a total loss on where to live!

Yes I agree, It's amazing! I'm having a blast and I can tell you, I'm a single mother and I'm making it work. Like my friend stated, the REAL fun doesn't start until summer. You will have spurts of free time, but you will be busy. I like to read up on my chapters before lecture, so I do a lot of reading. I'm do extremely well thus far and I'm excited about my med-surg/psyc rotation coming up.

I am on the discussion board from here on out, so you will see me during orientation if you are accepted. :)

Good luck!

Oh and the first two semesters, well ours, the schedules are very accommodating to mothers, but not so much 6th on out, from what I can tell. You want PEP and it's mandatory 12hrs, so I don't know.....

Yes, you will have several occassions where you will be downtown by 7 and depending on clinicals 6:30am. The hours vary and it will depend on what block you choose, but our first two semesters where are on the same time schedule.

You can go west or somewhat far east and hop on 70E or 70W and get there pretty quick. I live far east and it takes me 15mins. You can also check out places right outside of downtown.
