Hi everyone I have just learned today that I failed the Nclex first time taking it. My mom was looking at review courses and signed me up for Kaplan. Any reviews? All the things I have seen are from a couple of years ago. I also want to know any other recommened books I can use....I have 45 days till my next exam and what to make the most of my time because I really don not want to fail this again.
Thank you...

I took Kaplan and passed my first time. I also used http://www.amazon.com/Saunders-Comprehensive-NCLEX-RN%C2%AE-Examination-Nclex-Rn/dp/141603708X/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1310411629&sr=8-4

I took the course and passed the first time with min. # questions and was one of the first to leave the exam room. If you are looking for test taking strategy this is the course for you if you are looking for knowledge it does have some but focuses on strategy. Good Luck!

I used Kaplan and passed first time with 75 questions. I did all of the QTrainers and all but 300 of the Qbank questions. I read every rationals, even the questions I got right. I got a notebook and wrote down notes, lab values, s/s of different deseases. I read my notes a least everyday. I was not a fan of the decision tree but it came in handy on a couple of questions when I had to just give it a good guess.

I used the Saunders NCLEX review for content review & the Kaplan online test prep for getting used to the questions. I did all of the qbank questions. I felt it was really helpful because the actual NCLEX format looks EXACTLY the same as Kaplan's review. I passed with 75 q's. Good luck!!!!
Oh, I did hear that if you don't pass they send you a review of what you didn't do well in....I would of course focus on this while studying for the next time. Good luck!

I would suggest you do not rush to resit NCLEX but prepare properly

If you are looking for strategy I say Kaplan, but if you are needing to understand your CORE CONTENT, I would say go with Hurst Review. I took Hurst Review and passed on my 3rd attempt. I highly recommend it. Saunders Comprehensive and LaCharity P/D/A a must have book, do not take your NCLEX without it.........all the best in 45 days.......
Thanks everyone...I am dusting myself off and spending the next 45 days by studying my behind off....

Any review course or review resource is only going to be as good as the effort put in by the person using it.
I agree caliotter3 I have been working really hard at it and already feel I understand things better. I really like the course thank you all for your suggestions. It has been very helpful. I know that there is no magic pill to pass the nclex just hard work, now that I have things more foucsed for me I think it will go better the second time.

I loved Kaplan! I would highly recommend it. I really think it helped me critically look at each answer choice. It also just had so many questions which helped you get used to the format etc. I passed the NCLEX-RN the 1st time with 100 questions. I really believe Kaplan was a big reason that I passed the 1st time. Good luck to you!
