Any Pre-Nursing students working full time or know anyone that is working full time?

okay i'm a Pre-Nursing student and i work full time at the moment to support myself in life.

i'm taking my general ed and pre req courses at the moment. i'm only taking 2 classes at the moment because i'm scared if i take any more courses i will get bad grades but to be honest i want to take more than 2 classes per semster. i have a good work schedule (4am-12:30pm) to take more than 2 classes. I want to complete my nursing degree as soon as possible. i know porbably a year from now i will probably quit working full time and work part time or some sort once i get in a nursing program but at the moment i have to work full time.

Are you or do you know anyone that works full time through Pre-nursing courses or even nursing school? Do they go to school full time also? or just part time?

is it possible to make it?

I work full time, go to school part time. I only have 6, possibly 7 pre-req classes to take though. I've taken as many as 2 classes per semester but I think 3 are possible if I needed to. It depends on you, your schedule and your personal time. Even with 2 busy pre-req classes and working 45-50 hours per week, I have plenty of personal time.

If you don't have kids, and especially if you're single, you should be able to do 2 or even 3 classes a semester. You'll never have an easier time in your life to be a student.

Just choose the classes carefully. If there's an easy class consider doing it in a 8-week session or intercession, so you're crazy busy but get it over with quickly. The flexibility of online classes is great, but they often are time consuming and have a lot of busy work.

well if you only have to support yourself and dont have kids, i think you can definitely do it, cause for me i will be taking 3-4 classes and planning on working 55-65 hrs a week, well you just have to have some sacrifices like SOCIAL LIFE!! cause what im planning to do is to save money while im working on my prereqs so by the time i enter nursing school ill be quitting my job and try to focus studying, so most likely the money i have saved will be used for my living expense or if theres extra i could pay for some credit so i dont have to owe much, makes sense?? btw its easy for me cause im only working at home cause im an insurance billing/coder, so it may work for me and not for others. so good luck in your future endeavors! :)

I agree with the rest of the posters. I work part time and take no less than full time classes. I have 13 hours and I also have children. I have yet to really work full time and go to school full time since I have always had kids since going to school. Every school is different but have seen many times even on here the ones who have made it into the program had to quit their job, lessen their hours or go part time, due to the clinicals that may take up a good portion of time.

I myself am a full-time worker, and a full-time student. I typically take four classes a semester, but I have taken 5 classes a semester while working full time before. My GPA is currently a 3.8, and I received all A's for my four classes last semester. (Fall) It can be done, it just depends on how determined you are as a person. People, including my co-workers would constantly tell me that I am crazy for taking all of those classes and working full-time too, but I was, and still am confident in my abilities as a student and as an employee. I even went full-time during both summer sessions while working full-time as well. (intense) It is definitely possible, just schedule your classes accordingly. For example, if your taking a science that you think will be hard for you, take it with a humanities course or something like that. I also find that online classes can be great, because you typically are given the entire week to complete an assignment.

I am now only taking my last pre-req this semester, and I am just waiting to start my clinical this Fall.

I work full-time and I have kids. I'm doing 3 classes this semester and did 4 classes last semester. I'm busy and there's always something to study, but I'm managing fine.

Just carefully plan your classes so you don't have a bad bunch of classes to take together.

I too work full-time, go to school full-time and have 2 children both under 3. IT CAN BE DONE.

I have two jobs, my full time job from Tus - Fri currently 46 - 50 Hours and weekend part time is 14 hours .. I am starting with sociology and psychology this semester. I need to work hard because I am also supporting my wife who is graduation from her BSN next year. So from next year I am thinking to take more classes after she graduate. I believe everything is time management....

I took 16 credit hours last semester and worked part-time. Its pretty easy to work part-time

with a full load of classes.

My friend, however, went to school full-time and worked full-time and she had a difficulty time

with her classes. She got a D in A&P1 which means she has to retake it but she can still take A&P2.

She also struggles a lot with balancing her social life with school and work.

I used to work full time and take 15 credits each semester. It can be done, you just have to be VERY dedicated.

How can you guys do this if you have kids? Even without kids that's a lot of work. I applaud you all!! Personally A&P with lab is starting to get tough!!
