Any PN students here?....

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hi all..

Just asking...are there any other PN/LPN students here? Either currently attending or soon to attend...or even those who "want" to attend??....

Thanks!!!!!!!!!! (((((((((((((( HUGS )))))))))))

It can be done!! I also have a long commute; 100 miles round-trip in AWFUL Boston, Massachusetts traffic plus clinical locations can be a long trip too. I am 49 y.o., have a 13 y.o. son, a husband who works too much and elderly parents in FL that I have to keep an eye and ear on. But I am just about done with the LPN program - 5 weeks to go - am applying to either Excelsior for RN or a Master's Direct Entry program in Boston. Never thought I would make it but I have. You all will too!!!! Good Luck.

Hi everyone,

I too have a family with 2 kids. The school I am going to isn't too far away but far enough. I am in canada. It's been my life long goal to be a nurse. My plan is to work for a year as an LPN, and then go on to get a BSN in nursing. Here that is the only option I have. We don't have a bridge program where I live, so the only way I would be able to do that is online. It would still have to be a BSN nursing program though.

And I agree with everyone here, we can do this, we Will do this and be the best LPN's because of it!

Best wishes to all

Just me again....

To those who did not mention.....

Where are you from?, What school are you attending?, Are you going on for your RN?...

Guess I'll go first...

I'm from NC, will be attending EPCI in Raleigh, and hopefully....I'll continue on for my RN!!

Let me ask to...how hard was Pharm for many of you?

I'm from Virginia, I will be attending a 18 month program through Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. I am going for my RN as soon as I finish the LPN program and pass the NCLEX.

Pharm is seriously going to suck for me, I am terrible at math.

Count me in. I just got accepted into the LPN program. Lots of people asked me why I did not just go for the accelerated BSN. My SIL is a RN, and she said the LPN gives a good foundation to build the RN (and BSN) on. So, I am taking her advice. Besides, I have been out of school for....years....

Hello, i attend ltc ruston campus and I will finish in july and just finished med surg #3 going into mental health and ob gyn then will be finish the course was 14 months and we did have iv therapy lpn @ltc ruston does not play it is very hard you have to devote all of your time to it. i am now studying for the nclex so if anyone out there can give me some pointers or send me a book or two or disk downloads holla at me

Hi there

Started LVN 3 months back,CA.Hanging in there.

hey, im a LPN student... im in a 12 month program, jus finish term 1 and currently mid term 2.. wow!!!.. cardio is a really hard chapter for me and now were moving on to GI.. any help?

thats so exciting!

We have an 18 month program here 3 semesters and then hopefully bridge to the rn which is 2 semesters.

How long did it take everyone to get into pn school? did it take a few tries or do you have a wait list?

We don't have a wait list we have to re-apply every semester, so I am concerned on how long it will take to get in, if I don't get in when I apply in the fall then I will skip PN all together and apply for the RN the following fall.

Welcome everyone and again thank you for your responses!!

May I ask to those who are already in school.....

What's been the hardest part so far????????? Also what should I be prepared for??? ( I'm talking any "Shock factors") also how much off time do you have to spend studying??

Thanks!!!!!!

Hello all. I'm zoey from the ATL. I attend Atlanta tech's P.N. program. Well I guess u can say I still attend. I finished my 5th and last quarter, and passed all 6 of my finals (Thank God), on March 23. But my school makes it mandatory that you participate in their 2 month review class. This consist of a 3 week review of tapes with an overview of everything you've learned in the last 15 months. then the last month we have to take 3 practice nclex test with like 200 questions on each. O boy and if you fail one of the practice test, you have to do another 40 hours of review. So needless to say its in your best interest to take the test serious and pass on the first time. So i just took the first of three test last Monday and was informed I passed, so on next Monday I'll take the next one. So as you can see, I guess I'm still a lpn student.

Although I won't pout 2 much. I do think the 3 weeks of review tapes were helpful, and maybe just 1 practice nclex, you know, to kind of let you know were you stand. But that should be it. Darn I'm ready to take the real test now, and get out here in this world and start working!!!! So I can afford some gas for my car, LOL.

Zoeyzoe....

WOW!! Sounds like you have attended a really GOOD program!!!!!!!!! It also sounds like they are doing everything possible to ensure a successful outcome....Congrats and my BEST wishes!!!!!

LPN student here as well...I'm halfway through my 2nd term, and then we have a 3 wk summer vacation, then 3rd term is 10 wks, and another 2-3 wk fall break, and then 4th term starts for 10 weeks and we'll graduate on Dec 16th WOO HOO...just counting down the weeks! lol

1st term was really tough, we had nutrition, A&P, nursing fundamentals, and drug therapy...this term we have Adult nursing/Med-Surg and Pharmacology...and its' actuallly seem much toughter than before. And we had to take our IV certification written and lab exam, and we have until we graduate to do ONE good stick and we'll be endorsed with IV therapy (thank goodness)

Our school bases everything off of the final exams each term in order to move on to the next term so that's where i think it's so STRESSFUL here...we do get two chances to take the final exams but if you fail it the second time around then you are OUT of the program! and we only have ONE exam this quarter Med/surg and pharm are all together on one test....blah...5 wks of learning to do before we take that one though!

We also do clinicals two days a week (M and Tue) from 7-3, then we have class time W, Th, and F from 9am-5pm...somedays i don't feel like i even have a life except for nursing school! LOL!

Glad to see so many of us around here...i wonder f they have a student nurse forum for LPN's? hmmm
