Greetings, I am thinking about adding a tat. Anyone have a pic of a nursing related tatoo they'd like to share?

I have a Celtic piece that I designed on my neck, a piece of tribal flash in my mid-back, cat's eyes on my shoulder blades (for protection lol) and a fairy on my right shoulder. I'm going to get an armband of morning glories on my left arm before I leave for nrs school - (60 days!)

i dont have one but i always thought a cool one on the lower back would be R (cadeaus(sp?) symbol) N with tribal art on each side

I have a cross with a sunflower wrapped around it. I'm really wanting another, but not sure of what. A nursing one would be cool.

Greetings fellow nurses. Looks like there is interest in a nursing tatoo. Wish we could post up some pics or drawings to get idea's for a nursing tatoo. Any ideas how we can hook-up on the web and post ideas? My emial address was deleted.

I have a caduceus on my left scapula! It is awesome!!!! Took me forever to find the artwork, but it is great! My hubby has the same one on his left arm (paramedic).

I am thinking of more also, and something kinda tribal in an armband that is kinda normal sinus rhythm EKG...but just in vague shape...I have drawn it out and it is cool!

Other nursing ones, my hubby loved this little cutie devil guy (I think he was on Casper the Ghost) with a bent needle in his hands (for those rebel nurses out there..LOL!), Red cross with rose vines (or other flowers), I did some artwork with "hello nurse" that would be cute too (can make her cute or sexy..whatever)!

I have a shamrock on my left foot. Want another. Want angel wings on shoulder blades...thinking of others. -Andrea

Got a nice tribal band on my left ankle back in '95. Was told by a few people that I'd regret it the next day....after all these years I still love it. :)

Now I'm looking for a body part that is still holding up well enough for the Ankh, symbol of Life...

I'm thinking maybe of going with my front lower pelvic area...at least someday when I tighten up all that flab. Or maybe I'll say hell with the tightening and firming...never gonna happen anyway! LOL!! Heck with it...life is life..so who cares what the tummy looks like but me...right???? :chuckle

Admittedly, I love this symbol for reasons other than nursing. I nearly lost both my boys to a creek a few years ago and only by the grace of God are they both still here. Life is precious....as each of my boys proved to me on two different occasions...the day I gave birth to them and the day the Good Lord gave them back to me after the drowning. To me, the symbol of life is fitting.

I think tatoo's can be a beautiful and very personal way to express your emotions....or they can be works of art to be displayed. Depends of the person and their body. I personally think of getting one only when it means something special or spiritual to ME....but that's just ME...and not everyone elses belief....and I don't expect it to be.

I've seen people with only one tattoo that was tacky, cheap and nasty looking. And I've seen people with dozens that were beautiful and truly expressed that person's spirit and individuality.

Depends on the artist's work and the recipient who is getting the tatoo I guess...but I do love the one I already have...and the one I've been planning on for over 3 yrs.

Would love to see some of the tatoos talked about.......

I'd love to have a nursing-related tat. I like the suggestion of NSR as a tribal pattern! I think the caduceus is pretty cool, but I just did some research and found that it was actually originally a symbol of commerce. The god Aesculapius, however, is the god of healing and medicine. His symbol is a single serpent wrapped around a staff. There are some seriously cool versions of it at http://www.in-ta.net/info/aesculapius/symbols.html. I like the red and blue one, especially.

As for me, i have a dancing frog (pre-WB, back when that michigan j. frog cartoon was the only reference to him) on my left shoulder; my beloved and I just got a beautiful hummingbird tattoo on our backs for our 1-year anniversary.

I have an Ankh on my left upper back(symbol of life over my heart). On the top loop there a two snakes intertwining (similar to the cadeaus) and inside the bottom of the ankh there are three additional symbols; a sun (I'm a leo) setting over a pyramid (mystery of what life will bring) and the eye of Ra (for intuition). I love it today as much as I did when I first got it 7 years ago!

I have been considering getting another, but that first one HURT! Going back to get the color added was one of the hardest things I ever did, but well worth it!

Specializes in jack of all trades, master of none.

Oooh... I love tattoos. Top of right foot - gecko, right shoulder - smiley face sun, left inner ankle - Dancin' Bear, right ankle - yin yang with tribal band wrapped around ankle.

I have a few ideas for my next one, that will probably go on my big toe, just below the nail.

A friend has an EKG strip... very cool looking.

Specializes in ICU.

I seen this RN with a tattoo of a butterfly but.... it really was "RN" as the body of the butterfly with really big beautiful wings attached. It was cute.

I have an Elmo on my left upper arm, a dolphin ankle bracelet on my right ankle, & on my left ankle/lower leg, (inner)I have an Xfiles tat, & on th eouter, 3 heaarts on top of each other, a red, then black, then rainbow. :-) I'd love to get a nursing one, too.
