Any nurses here date the officers?

Just a curious question.. as there seems to be a lot of that going on in my jail...Love to hear your comments or stories..

No way! I have heard that has happened in the past at my institution but I have not seem it.

The officers that aren't too old/too young/married are generally not datable for other reasons!!

I haven't, happily married but may nurses have dated, if that's what you want to call it, the CO's a few divorces many affairs but then I think we are just a little Peyton Place. BTW the CO's date each other also.

dated one, then married him and then divorced him.....

lots of dating amongst correctional employees-very insulated "society", and once you get enmeshed into that "culture", there is a bond, no one outside the perimeter fence can really understand the unique stressors in prison.

NO!! NO!! NEVER, NEVER!!! Most of them are fine to work with, but, on a personal level, I wouldn't have COFFEE with them, let alone anything else. :barf02:

I met my husband when he was a correctional officer. We've been happily married for 5 yrs. now and dated for 2 yrs. prior to that. It's not something that I recommend but I do know that he understands my job. Corrections is most definitely unique and it's comforting to me to know that my husband understands the stresses that go along with the job.

My husband and I jokingly tell people "we met in prison". Actually, we did. He was in Custody Staff and I was a nurse. We've been married for 16 years now and are working in our 3rd correctional facility. It's nice being able to discuss workplace issues.

When I worked in corrections, many married nurses were having "love affairs" with other married officers. I also knew 2 nurses who married inmates, lost their jobs and lived to regret it.

There definitely are married nurses having affairs with married CO's in my institution. It's one big soap opera.

I really don't care what they do but, when they're wasting time flirting with their boyfriends instead of getting the work done and it all falls on me, I get pretty annoyed with it all.

it is emtremely easy to fall into that trap of falling for an officer at work...after all, you spent a great amount of time at your facility especially if there's a lot of overtime/mandating of shifts. flirtations make the day go by a little easier & faster, but remember these key points: 1. the bulk of the officers are mostly looking for some "bragging rights" and a slap on the back from their male co-workers, 2. there are "no secrets" in jail, so if you think you are going to have a "quiet relationship" with another staffer...think again. the people around you will pick up on the affair, or attraction, and it you will be outted before you know it. 3. if you are looking for advancement in your facility, don't do it! management gets wind of these affairs, too. all you're going to do is ruin your credibility for your future. 4. hardly ever will anything serious come out of an illicit relationship with an officer. and when it ends, as most of them do, you'll be left looking like an easy mark for the other officers to "come on" to. think before you drop your pants! do you want the whole institution to know how you like your sex? i know a nurse that has (supposedly) slept with about 1/2 dozen officers, and her rep is ruined irregardless. did she actually have sex with all of them? probably not, but maybe at least one or two of them. do you think the other ones she dated are going to let the guys know they didn't get a home run off her, too? that's the way it goes in corrections...we have a saying where i work, it's not the dept. of corrections...it's the "dept. of connections". :down: very bad idea...........................

In corrections that happens a lot...I know of many that have either dated or married officers. We have a lot of handsome officers at my facility I don't know if I'd want to date one if I wasn't married. Many of them seem like players and they've been passed around so much who'd want them.

didn't date any officers but I did have an affair with the medical director (I was the DON). Lasted for five years before anyone even had a clue. I was married at the time to the warehouse supervisor so we all worked at the same place!
