Any NPs have scribes?

Do any NPs have scribes assigned to them. I am slow, but thorough adult NP. Cranking out high volume is not my forte. If I had a scribe, I imagine I could see the requisite 80 Pt.s a day (just kidding), seriously 30 Pt.s/day.

With a scribe I could see that many. I refuse a scribe anytime it’s offered. I clear 20ish ppd on my own and I think that’s acceptable for my pay with room for growth in my pay. I don’t trust a scribe who has no medical or nursing background to convey what I want in a more effectively and at the RNs off the day I’m responsible. I just optimize epic as best as possible.

I have in the past. I enjoyed it as it made me that much more efficient. Usually they do have medical terminology experience if not some patient care experience too, as most young scribes are looking to apply to medical or PA school. Besides, they write exactly what you tell them and use the templates you created.

Sadly our providers they don’t. Most of them are in school with minimal experience. Most of the mds that use them don’t even know how to use epic much less monitor what they’re writing. And some providers don’t even let them go into the room with them. Not gonna lie, out clinics are fairly chaotic. lol

If you use EPIC, not all practices do. Still, would rather have a scribe.

Do you have dictation capabilities? My last institution had it.

I feel like I do better without one. I can see 25-30 patients in a day (I work in occupational medicine) and have templates for the most common complaints patients have.

I use dragon dictation. We can't find rooming staff as it is,...... scribes aren't a possibility. I sometimes see 19-20 patients a day.....but those are stressful days. most people in my role are seeing 12-16... I am amazed to hear some people are seeing 25 -30 patients a day

One thing you might look into, which might depend on your setting, is voice to text charting software. I know this has been in development and should honestly be the way of the future, since we all know how much time documentation takes.

Might be possible to even use an application on your phone to record things in text and then transfer them ?
