I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
Absolutely will keep you posted. You're 3.8 will be really high on the list. Did you only apply to accelerated? I'm starting to feel like I should have applied at other colleges. It probably would have made more since to apply to an Accelerated BSN program, since theres would have taken the same amount of time.
No I am done with all my pre-req but I paid for all my college tuition, they told me that I don't qualified for financial aid because of my income, I paid and then the Hospital I work for give me tuition reimbursement. But if I do get accepted for the nursing program I may apply again because I will have to stop working, I am applying for the full time genetic so I was told the schedule runs all day for the entire week with in classes and clinicals. Thanks god I have my husband who support me 100% and he told me that If I get accepted he will take care of all the expenses on his own.
Hello Mommy'sGirl,
I actually only applied to MDC. As for Manatee Comm College---guess what ? I cannot submit my application to Manatee because I did not pass their freaking Reading Comp NET ... goodness sake got a 58. I have taken TOEFLs, GMATs, CLEP and first time, I failed a Reading Comp.
FYI, I got a 110 on my MDC Reading Comp CPT. Go figure....
Anybody out there who also "failed" the Reading Comp NET (by testmaker Eriworld) at Manatee ? I want to know your experience....
Good Morning guys,
I've been following your posts and let me tell you, its been such a stress reliever for me! I'm also waiting for the "Miracle"letter. I can't believe they are making us wait this long.
I do have a question They had sent us all an e-mail regarding the budget cut for Miami Dade schools and how we had to register asap as soon as fall registration started. My question is , if registration starts the 17th of June and we are getting the letters by July.. how are we going to have time to register??? (just in case )I guess we could register and then drop the class when we get accepted.. by if you drop it does it count as a dropped class on your curriculum?
Thank you guys for your help in advance.
hi miamigirl i'm confused. How would you pick up classes if you don't really know what your going to be taking if you start the program in august. What program did you apply for? I'm just asking because the advisor told me that when we have orientation is when they will speak to us about everything and we will pick up classes then.
have a great day and gluck to all
Hey MiamiGirl, I don't think we will even be allowed to get that far in registration. If I'm not mistaken there is a registration hold on the program classes. Anybody can't just register for those classes..but no if you are allowed to register and then drop a class it doesn't count against you. A dropped class only effects you if it is done after the drop/add deadline. Then it goes on your record as a withdrawal, and you don't want that; however, you are right registration does start the 17th of this month. I am going to go upstairs into the nursing department to at least right down my choices so that when we get called in for orientation I will be prepared. I'm not all that worried about which teacher I get b/c I'm a strong believer that it is the student that makes the grade not the teacher that you have. I did however take note of about 5 exceptional teachers for our nursing school, so they will be my first choice.
hey mommysgirl where in the medical campus do you look at these schedules of classes? Do they already have up the classes for the program for the students that will start in august? I guess i just want to take it one step at a time and wait to get accepted and then just wait for orientation, but it's always good to be prepared

Hello guys,
Just called MDC admissions office again and they said that acceptance letters would go out late June/early July.
Same boat with you guys-- have a 3.8 GPA, looking at the accelerated prog for fall 2009.
Lets keep each other posted and hope for the best !
