Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?

Published

I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.

Thanks for your interest!

I haven't gotten an email but I did read about it and even heard the break down on the news. I have no idea how many ppl get accepted into each program but I was wondering the same thing about the PART TIME PROGRAM.

I don't think any of us will be hearing back from them soon. It seems as though they are quite behind in entering student's information this year. No one is actually "reviewing" applications...it's a matter of entering the specifics on each student and letting the computer rank them by GPA only. I have a 4.0 and have not heard or received anything, so I wouldn't be too concerned with not getting in just yet. They are just slow, let's keep the faith!

Last year, for the transitional program, I heard from a fellow nurse, who is in the program, that they accepted around 70 people. That number seems real low so I don't know if it is accurate.

This is like a Lottery, I know that in total they only take around 300 students. But the problem is that the for the part time track the application opens only on fall so they are more students applying this semester than the other one. I don't know what percentage they do on transitional but remember that there is part time and full time track I imagine they divide the amount of students between does two, Anyway it looks like in fact it looks like we are not going to know until the end of June. Not funny at allllllllllllllllllllllllllll:no:

Olofin1,

I am already prepared for PLAN B which I already had in place. Just in case something like this happened. That's to attend McFatter for the their LPN program until I can apply again next yr. I dont want to sit and do nothing for a whole yr so atleast I will continue some medical learning there. I am ready for the good or the bad either way. They are EXHAUSTING OUR ENERGY .....................:(

Does anyone have a friend who graduated fall accelerated of any year? My question is concerning graduation, there appears to be only one commencement per year which is held in May, does that mean we would have to wait a whole semester after we complete the program to walk. If we start August 2009, we have fall semester, spring semester, and summer 2010 (3 semesters) and we are DONE; therefore, do we either walk before we complete summer term in May 2010, or we have to wait an additional year to walk the following May 2011 (which is the worst possible senerio). Can anyone answer this???

No idea But as you already probably had read from this forum there is little information or none information regarding the nursing program, almost everyone you talk too is in lalaland. the information given to us in person or the college website is very abstract. not good at all.

Just called the medical campus, no selections yet guys. This is insane!

What are they doing? They should be working overtime trying to get this done, the way we keep calling. They are telling us July so we can stop calling, if they really want us to stop calling they need to get the job done.:lol_hitti

i say we call until someone cracks ! and lets it slip whos' in or at least given somemone the cut off, so we know at what GPA they stop accepting applicants !

I feel for you guys! I know how u feel. I was going crazy last year while waiting to see if I got in. I called several times too. But let me tell you that they won't crack at all and give u any information until the letters go out. I was in the advisement office to get papers filled out last week..and I swear the receptionist was going crazy fielding phone calls about the applications.. Lol.. I was also on my advisor like white on rice trying to get info when I applied, but she couldn't tell me anything until the letters finally went out. LOL. I

Know it stinks.. But you will here soon enough.. I wish nothing but the best for all you. Enjoy ur free time now!!!! Lol... Cause when you start ur life is over!! U will eat breathe and sleep nursing school. I'm in my semester and I've already had 2 meltdowns. Oh well!! I guess it comes with the territory. good luck everybody!

THANK YOU FOR THE INSIDE. I WISH THE BEST FOR YOU TOO.:anpom:
