A year and half ago I was applying there, I spoke with someone in the faculty and they told me if you pass your interview you can get in. But you have to well in the entrance exam. I do know at that time you must maintain a "B" to pass the program. I think that is why I chicken out. I know nursing school is hard, and I didn't want to take a chance of getting thrown out a program. So I chose a different program.
I do remember at the time it wasn't that hard to get in, but in a year things change. I say if your having problems getting into a school, take that one.
I was interestedin Touro because someone mentioned in another thread, once you are enrolled in about 22 months you can be ready to take the NCLEX and become an RN.
I'm a soon to be divorced single mom who for the time being has free room and board since I am planning to go back to school, thanks to a generous family member.
I need a 'fast program' since said family member will be selling the house in 2 years. So I can't go the BSN or waiting list route.
Now I am nervous hearing about having to maintain that "B"-- I wasn't sure what you had to maintain to stay in any school, I assumed as long as there wasn't a failing grade?
Thank you. Is there an option to complete pre-reqs before applying? Will they accept that? I am nervous having to complete both nursing courses and extra classes at the same time. In other threads the consensus seems to be knock all the extras out so it won't be as strenuous.
Also are you satisfied with the program? Thanks so much!
It is a B to remain in the program. Most other programs have a minimum of C. As for the pre-reqs,the program is 5 semesters. The first semester you complete A&P 1, Psych, English, and Nutrition. Second semester is A&P 2, and the start of actual "Nursing classes" The upside of this program is that you are completing everything together and theres no waiting around to get into classes. Once you're in the program, you're in. (granted you keep that B!)
I like the program and its worked out great for me. Private message me for more information - i have TONS!

I went to their open house, you can transfer up to 11 credits but you have to write a letter to the chairperson. Once she approves your request I think your good, but I dont go there so dont quote me on that.
its true u can transfer credits. But in my opinion, taking them all in the program works out better. Quick suggestion - classes start in June, and im not entirely sure if they are still accepting applicants, although i think they are. So give them a call if you're even slightly interested before its too late.

Has Touro been worth it in terms of tuition? How many hours on average do you have to study or read? I'm thinking about applying for the fall of 2009 because community colleges have long waiting lists. Thanks.
Hi there,
Yes in my opinion it has been worth it. It is expensive, but you get through the program in 2 years and none of the hassles that you deal with at community colleges.
As far as studying and reading, that depends on the person of course. I find with certain topics, I have to study and read more to get it down. Others, once the teacher talks about it in class, it sticks. Get what Im saying? But you should at least be able to devote a little time each night to get some reading done.
The program starts in June 2009, not the Fall.
Hope that helps a little!
Thank you .
