This is my first post and I clearly have no idea what I'm doing. Sorry in advance.
Just wondering if there are any New Mexico Students hoping to get accepted to GCU for Fall..
Also if you're hoping to get into any other school.. Please feel free to jump on in too.. Doesn't seem like NM gets any action on this site..
Well I took the HESI this morning and it was really easy. Yes there were a few questions that I just could not remember the answers to (A&P section I am talking about you) but for the most part reasoning out the answer worked well and I am very happy with my score. Keep in mind I did take the HESI at UNM so I knew the structure. If you are a good student, you should be just fine however!
One thing I really liked about taking the HESI at GCU was how relaxed the atmosphere was... a minor detail I know, but it was something I really appreciated and was different from when I took it for UNM! No one was freaking out, there was not a ton of tension in the air, and the administration was very nice and approachable as well. The site director was there and he took the time to introduce himself and wish us luck... just a small detail that made me even more eager to get into GCU's program.
Don't overthink it, review the study guide and notes, and relax... you'll do great!

Thank you so much for the info!!!! Truly appreciate it... May 8th is so close... I'm nervous.. But I should just relax because it won't be as bad as I'm making it out to be. ?
Yikes... 70 applicants for 24 spots. I had no idea that GCU was that popular of an option. Still, it's not as competitive as UNM and/or CNM, but I'm not so sure about my chances now. I heard "oh you just barely missed it, you'll definitely get in next semester" so many times over at UNM that it just became frustrating and I am seriously doubting whether or not I will ever even get into a program.
That number does make sense though... we don't have a whole lot of choices here in NM and I know so many people who are still trying to get into nursing school after being rejected from UNM and CNM. (Sorry about the sob story you guys... I just really needed to vent about this whole process.)
BabyMamaJenn, did you by chance happen to ask what the average GPA was of those admitted? I completely forgot to ask when I was over at GCU getting info.
What's your GPA like? The minimum is 3.0 and I was told the "average" that people come in at is a 3.3 or 3.4... I thought 70 sounded high as well.. But considering UNM and CNM have like 250+ that try every semester.. Than 70 looks nice for competition... Ha ha ha.. I'm sure everyone has been denied for UNM and CNM as well.. And now they've heard about GCU and trying there too.. Ugh.. Fingers crossed we get in...!!!!! Yikes I'm so nervous.
P.S.. You can vent and be sad anytime!

I'm scheduled to take it on Thursday so I'll come back and let you know. If it is anything like the Hesi at UNM then it really is not bad at all, although I can't speak for the A&P, critical thinking, or learning style sections.
