Any Florida PreNursing Students?

Published

I was thinking us FL PreNursing Students could use a little support. I know there's a "prenursing" forum, but it's not specific to us :-)

Hi. I'm in Central Florida and won't be able to officially start Nursing School until the Fall of 2009 on account of the prerequisites. I plan on going to Seminole Community College and am hoping that I'll get into the ADN-BSN Concurrent Program there. I still need to take Microbiology, Human Anatomy 1 & 2, Chemistry, Sociology and Human Nutrition. I'm in the middle of finishing my A.A. in General Studies at Valencia.

What about you? What school are you trying for and for when? What kind of program? What do you still need to get done?

:p

but it doesn't matter- keiser or city college- people are able to take their boards anyways,

good luck on your test CCarlos!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok thanks! I will look into Keiser College. I am thinking about the LPN program at Orlando Tech for the evening, but the classes start in Jan 09, I guess that will give me enough time to study. What do you think about Orlando Tech?

Great school, hard to get in though! my frind is graduating from the LPN program today!!! she loves it! and she already has a job lined up!

Great, congrats to her! Well I'll just have to see which school will be best for me and which school will accept me. I took the net test at Herzing college and I passed the math but when it came to the reading I missed 8 freakin questions, my time was done. But I am studying the reading part so I can beat the time instead of the time beating me.

hey i took my net at hersing also! i took it ofn february and then again on may just because i had already payd for it!!!

Grrrr, now I'm having trouble getting financial aid! First they said I made too much money to get any grants or scholarships, fine. THEN they said I can't get a subsidized loan... FINE. NOW, I can't get a federal loan at all because I have too many credits. I'm appealing but I'm frustrated! Either way, the hubby and I figured we'd just get a private loan if necessary.

In the meantime, I'm all registered for the Fall at VCC. I'm taking Microbiology, Human Anatomy I and Human Nutrition. I'm so excited, it feels like I'm actually GETTING somewhere!

I had to appeal because of "excessive hours". I had gone to school at 18 and dropped out - twice. Then later went back for my certificate in Medical Assisting which I completed. Next I got my prereqs completed for Nursing. Then I recieved a letter stating I had to many hours - like basically "why do you have this many credits and no degree?" I appealled which was basically a letter explaining all of the above. It was approved and I currently have a sub and unsub stafford loan. Hope this helps. Good luck!

That's good to hear. I'm working on my appeal right now. I too started school like 8 years ago... dropped out and then moved to another state only to find out that all my "core" credits from one school would be counted as "electives" so I have a ton of those. Then I changed my major... TWICE... and then decided I wanted to go into nursing. My one concern is that TECHNICALLY I'll have everything I need for my degree at the end of August... my degree is General Studies and I'm hoping to get into the Nursing program after that.
