I was thinking us FL PreNursing Students could use a little support. I know there's a "prenursing" forum, but it's not specific to us :-)
Hi. I'm in Central Florida and won't be able to officially start Nursing School until the Fall of 2009 on account of the prerequisites. I plan on going to Seminole Community College and am hoping that I'll get into the ADN-BSN Concurrent Program there. I still need to take Microbiology, Human Anatomy 1 & 2, Chemistry, Sociology and Human Nutrition. I'm in the middle of finishing my A.A. in General Studies at Valencia.
What about you? What school are you trying for and for when? What kind of program? What do you still need to get done?
I just applied at Dbcc yesturday. I have all my pre and co-req courses finished. I think I did pretty well and now I am just nervously awaiting to recieve a letter in July.
Do anyone that is getting in, what was your GPA? How much did Net effect your chances?

I got in before they changed the requirements but my GPA was a 3.26 when I applied. The NET had hardly anything to do with it, they just wanted to make sure you made a 50% or above. I start in August. Good luck to you and let me know if you get in. You should hear by the end of June. :redpinkhe
I'm taking 1 prereq (Sociology) online at St. Petersburg College and Microbio/Lab at Hillsborough Community College. I still have A&P 1/Lab and A&P2/Lab to finish before I can apply to HCC's nursing program at Dale Mabry! I won't finish all the prereqs untill next May (2009), and the program I want to get into doesnt start untill the following January(2010) So I can't wait to just be able to apply!! Counting down the days!
So I'm now in my last semester to get an A.A. in general studies. In a few days I'm registering for my pre-reqs. In the fall, I'm taking Human Anatomy 1, Microbiology and Human Nutrition. I'm taking all of those at Valencia since it's the closest to my house. I'm so excited!!! I'm in General Biology now... it's kinda hard but interesting at the least.
what school are you going to? I am going to an orientation at SCC today to check out their program there. I am unclear as to do the LPN at Orlando Tech or the RN at SCC whom offers the RN evening/weekend program, so confused right now!
I am going to LSCC (Lake Sumter Community College) in Clermont! I am so stoked! Anyway, good luck with SCC... I hear they have a great program! And don't worry about what to do... just check out all your options and apply to all of them. Then you have your options open!
I believe they have a program in Orlando, which is the area you are going to? Keiser in Orlando has never had a graduating class and they offer the program in the am, I hope they are board certified!

I'm at CFCC and I just finished A&P 1 with Lab and medical Terminology
I still have Microbiology , A&P 2 (actually I have it @ 5 pm tonight hhaha) and Human development or something lol
I'm hoping to get in there RN Fall 09 after Finishing my A.S. degree in Medical Office Administration
