I was thinking us FL PreNursing Students could use a little support. I know there's a "prenursing" forum, but it's not specific to us :-)
Hi. I'm in Central Florida and won't be able to officially start Nursing School until the Fall of 2009 on account of the prerequisites. I plan on going to Seminole Community College and am hoping that I'll get into the ADN-BSN Concurrent Program there. I still need to take Microbiology, Human Anatomy 1 & 2, Chemistry, Sociology and Human Nutrition. I'm in the middle of finishing my A.A. in General Studies at Valencia.
What about you? What school are you trying for and for when? What kind of program? What do you still need to get done?
They are is the fist year that they are offering the program on the orlando campus!but their passing rate on the other campusees is great!
they are acredited and also NLN acredited!
i am taking classes there now!
They are not accredited!!! only melbourne campus is!!! look for yourself on this site --> http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directorySearch.asp
or go to this page- and do a search for fl schools that are accredited.

what I do not understand is--- if these schools are not accredited how people are still able to take the NCLEX-RN exam?
when I called Keiser to ask, they told me they had provisional status- so they could take boards when time came- after getting a certain percentage passing on the NCLEX-RN then they could get fully accredited.
I didn't want to take my chances so I never applied to Keiser- when it was extremely close to my house-
I went to BCC in pembroke pines.
this is what it says on the KEISER website:
Keiser University’s Nursing program, Melbourne campus, is fully approved by the State Board of Nursing. Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Kendall, Lakeland, Sarasota, Tallahassee, and West Palm Beach campuses are provisionally approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, 4052 Bald Cypress Way, BIN C02, Tallahassee, FL 32399-3252, (850) 245-4125.
Keiser University’s Nursing program, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Kendall, Lakeland, Melbourne, Sarasota, Tallahassee, and West Palm Beach campuses, is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc., 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006, (800) 669-1656.
If the stement above is true- then the name of the school should show up on the NLNAC website- but it doesn't. I would call the NLNAC people just to make sure that Keiser IS IN FACT accredited.
they have a provisory until the fist graduation!
-pardon my ignorance but is there a way to be fully accredited withou having the campus passing rates and have them take the board?
as far as i was informed the school is regionally acreditad and also NLN, and orlando is under provisory, temporary, or something like that! untill they get the permanent status!
I guess that is how it is?
so I don't understand why Kendall campus here in miami is not fully accredited- nor the one in Ft. Lauderdale; and they have been graduating lots of students from those campuses!!
I know a girl from Kendall campus that she took boards back in sepember of 2006- but yet they are still not accredited. I asked her if she was the first class- and she told me she was the 2nd class.
Even city college is not there either. and they have graduated 5 classes already.
I don't understand how this thing works!
but either way- people are able to take the NCLEX-RN at the end, and that is what matters most.
