Hi everyone. I just wanted to know where are all my February test takers. I am taking the NCLEX RN for the 2nd time on Feb. 16th. The first time I got all 265 questions, I used Exam Cram RN and just a little bit of Saunders. This time around I am using NCSBN 3 week course (which I already finished), Saunders, LaCharity, and the free Kaplan online. Do you think I am doing to much? I want to know what are you doing. So where are all my February test takers and what states are you in? I am in Virginia.
I really recommend NCSBN. I didn't really focus on the content. I mostly did the qbanks. I find it to be a lot like the nclex
I guess I'd be getting the 3 week program from NCSBN then. =) But if I may ask, does it also include a readiness exam, wherein you will be tested and estimated if you can pass the real nclex?? Thanks again! :)
I will hopefully take it by the end of this month.
I've been exclusively studying Med-Surg all of this month through the Saunders review book. Yes, I've been really reading the systems as if I was studying for an exam in nursing school. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I was kind of held back so I was in school for a while. I realized I've forgotten a lot of my content knowledge. Whenever I did I a test from the Saunders CD, I was only getting half them right.
Lo and behold... it worked. My scores have improved to 70%-80% in the Saunders Comprehensive Review and Saunders Q & A. This is with just reviewing Med-Surg. I still have Maternity, Peds and drugs to review. Psych was my strong area in nursing school. I did the LaCharity workbook a few weeks ago. My scores were mediocre. They were hard questions and I didn't know enough. I've also started Kaplan a few days ago. Everyone says they're harder than the actual NCLEX so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad that I've only gotten around mid-60% on the qbanks that I've done so far.
I think reviewing content really helps if you feel like your knowledge is weak. Kaplan questions are a lot harder than Saunders questions. I find that (with the help Kaplan strategies) I am more able to figure out what the questions are really asking and rationalize each answer choice with my knowledge now that I know more.
I also have Exam Cram, a Davis review book, and NCLEX 3500. But I set them aside because it's overwhelming to have all these materials and you don't know which one to use. So now, I study a chapter or two from my Saunders book in the afternoon and do at least 100 questions either from Saunders or Kaplan at night everyday. I've made myself into a hermit I know.
By the way... I did ATI review (my school utilized - and charged us for ATI, so I figured why not use the resource I've already paid for) and a Kaplan review book. I felt like I was well prepared for the format of the questions and the computer testing. Now just need those results so I can know for sure if I was well prepared to PASS!
