Any exp. with demanding pay increases

Nurses General Nursing

Published

This is my question. I just transferred to a hospital where the call pay in the area I work, and throughout the whole hospital, is 1.50. Sorry, but in my opinion that is a joke. Also, I left a facility in another state that the call pay was 4.00

Well I am going to the next public hearing meeting to see if they will do a market analysis with surrouding area hospitals and at least pay us what is in the same ball park?

Everyone else said they have addressed the issue but they are laughed at.

DOes anyone have any experience with this. Or can they just pay us whatever they want, even if it is 4.00 less then surrounding areas?

Thanks....

I spoke to an employer about a pay inequity one time and nothing was rectified. It was not long before I no longer worked for that employer. I have no qualms about letting others know about it. If you decide to fight the battle, decide if you are ready for any consequences, to include losing your job, shortly after you speak up for yourself. They can pay whatever they want if there is no contract. That is where unions come in.

As long as nurses work cheap, hospitals and other facilities will pay cheap!

Call pay in this area is Zero. You are told if you want to keep your job you will be on call Of course, many nurses elect to do this. As for me, I no longer work there!

yikes. I was lucky because at my last position they paid us 25% of our hourly wage for call. As far as negotiating-good luck if you do not have a union to back you up....

Unless you're union, yes they can. And they will continue to pay whatever they want as long as there are takers.
