Hi Lunah- how did you determine that VA accepted EC? I went to the VA BON website and couldn't find any info on it, although I haven't tried calling them. I am in MD, and I wonder if I did it and then worked in VA, if I could at some point get a MD license. I am in Montogomery County, so working in VA is an option. I wouldn't love the commute, but would possibly do it if I could eventually get a MD license.

EC confirmed for me recently that Virginia does accept EC, and the BON just renewed their acceptance of EC grads. :)

Where I work (Loudoun County, VA), we have a bunch of RNs who commute from Maryland -- Frederick, Brunswick, etc. Probably not quite as far as Mont. County, but it only takes them about 30 minutes to get to work.

You could always get licensed in Virginia or any other state that will accept it and work at a federal facility in Maryland like a VA hospital, military base, or federal correctional facility.

Or you can bust your hump and try and finish EC and get licensed before the end of the year. I'm not sure if this is possible depending on CPNE dates but maybe worth looking into. Or for people living in Montgomery County....just go to Fairfax

thanks everyone for your repiles

Yikes!

I didn't realize MD wouldn't recognize the compact they currently have with Virginia. I planned to obtain my license through VA and apply/work in MD.

Correct me if I am wrong, but at least we can still work in VA and DC, correct?

I'm in MD (Montgomery County too! Gaithersburg) and I'm doing ISU for my BSN. I don't think this school has an ADN program. I have a letter saying the BON accepts ISU so you can always transfer to that program if you don't finish EC in time and if you are doing BSN. :)

Yup! :) I know, I thought about the compact issue, too ... I wonder if Maryland will let you endorse in after a certain amount of time? That seems likely, considering both MD and VA are compact states! I'm only planning on working in Virginia right now, so I'm not quite sure about MD.
