Any CrossFit-ing nursing students out there?

Hey guys! I see alot of you mention CrossFit from time to time in posts related to nursing and just wanted to know who my fellow CrossFitters are! :) if you can and would like to I'd love to know what box you attend, how long youve been CrossFitting, or if you do it on your own what program you follow!

Thanks guys!.

Fellow Crossfitter here! Though I am a newb :) I had been lifting heavy at the gym (back squats, deadlifts, bench presses) for the past four months but just recently signed up at my local box, Rocklin Crossfit. We qualified for the Games this last summer and was third in regionals. We just did a charity WOD today for Tyler Brown, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer. One of our family members has been struck with cancer…. | Rocklin Crossfit Start with 3 reps, then keep adding 3 reps after each round until 20 mins is reached: Overhead squat, chest to bar pullups, back squats and push press. I got up to 18 reps, felt the pukies coming on towards the end lol Then ended with a 1000 m row.

I LOVE the Oly lifts too even though I'm a beginner. I actually have an unrepaired torn ACL in my left knee. Just got a per diem position so I can't quite take time off just yet since the rehab can be pretty extensive. I have an AWESOME knee brace, Donjoy Defiance, it's the same one RGIII and many other pro-athletes wear. It's a derotational brace and anything that we do that has too much lateral movement, they allow for modifications.

My hands are starting to get super torn up which makes me nervous with our line of work but it is like a badge of honor hehe

Nice to meet you all!

Hi guys! Are any of you still active on here? I've been a nurse for about a year and just started Crossfit last week. Loving it so far!

Yay, Puppylv! Congrats on drinking the kool-aid. ;) I have been CrossFitting for over 3 years. I used to be a distance runner and ran 2-3 marathons per year, but that just got too hard on my knees. Plus I hate running. :) I am a part of a competition team, so I follow a competition training program. Since I just started nursing school, I may have to go back to regular classes though because I will not have the time to spend 2 hours in the gym four days per week. My goal right now is just to stay fit and healthy. Training to that volume and effort is very stressful on the body and I need to focus on school for the next 15 months.

how many people have gotten injured doing this?

Where are you going with your question, lifestudentrn? Are you genuinely curious or are you jumping on the "CrossFit is dangerous" bandwagon?

I was crossfitting until a major back spasm and strain that knocked me down (and no, it had nothing to do with CrossFit -- it happened on an off day). I want to find a place to go back to lifting though -- that's what I liked most about CF.
