What is like working at med/surg floor? I am going to work on that floor soon and I'm anxious what is it like and how overwhelming it can be. I will have 12 patients and on 3-11 shift. I will have my training in a week or two before I get to start but I'm excited to know what's a day like working at med/surg floor :)
Orgill: I've only been working the medial surgical floor for a month or so now but, as of right now I love it! You learn so much stuff and it is something constantly new going on. One pt. usually doesn't stay but a day or two.
You mentioned something about the perfect shoe. I wear nike training shoe (not sure of the exact name) but, they are the most comfortable things I have found. I'm pretty sure this is the right shoe Nike Store. Nike Free TR III Women's Training Shoe. If you were interested in them I would go to the store because the sole of the shoe is squishy (not sure if I'm spelling it right) but it isn't hard the a lot of soles of shoes.

I am so thankful for this as well. I just landed a job at one of the hospitals here in Spokane. I'll be on the med/surg floor and wanted a little insight of what is to be expected. I'll be working nights from 6:30pm to 7am. I really appreciate this so much :) I am also wanting to work as a RN (when i finish school) for a year on the floor then transfer to ICU for another year.

At 07:00 I do vitals and bloodsugars
At 08:00 I put them in the computer so the nurses have them.
09:00-10:30 I wash those that are total care and give linens to those that are self care.
10:30- I chart everything I did at 9-10.
11:00-I do vitals and bloodsugars.
And the rest of the time I answer call bells/do vitals again at 3:00. I make sure I have everything done before I go to lunch so I won't have to rush to have it done (baths, etc.)
