Any CNA to RN programs???

U.S.A. Minnesota

Hello!!! I just moved to Minnesota (new Brighton area) and I'm looking to get into a nursing school. I have my CNA license and I have an Associate of Science. I have completed a full year of an ADN program however they were not MN courses so they will not transfer.

Does anyone know of any schools that take your CNA and let you start a little ahead???? Like accelerated and let's you skip A&P1 and 2 and fundamentals of nursing etc? I saw one a while back and I can find it anywhere!! Please help!!!

:) also what are the 3 best RN programs in your opinion?

They may exist, but I've never heard of a CNA-RN program before, sorry!

I know there isn't any bridge programs like LPN-RN however I saw a school that uses your CNA and let's you bypass some of the basic nursing courses

I didn't attend nursing school in MN, but the only class I was able to skip was the Basic Nursing lab, where you practice ADLs.

CNA doesn't equal the body of knowledge you learn in fundamentals or A&P. I would be very concerned about a school that would make any such substitution.

You probably won't find any school that will consider your CNA cert as education to bypass a nursing course. However, as long as your pre reqs were separate classes and not just built into your previous program, then they should transfer. and if you passed both semesters of your previous nursing education, then you need to contact ADN programs around you to see if they will do a transcript review to see if you can be placed in semester 2 or above. Some will and some won't depending on your old school and how it compares to th curriculum of their program.

My CC does take some transfer students. We had a student in block 2 who transferred from a for profit private crap school. I don't remember how many semesters she had passed, but she was blacked in block 2 in our program based in her previous education and didn't have to start completely over.

I have never seen a CNA-RN program because even in Fundamentals you learn about the nursing process, which is not in a CNA's scope of practice. I am sure if you took the sciences they would transfer in (hopefully). But there is no way a CNA can skip "a few" nursing classes, in MA at least. I know LPN's could test out of Fundamentals and Maternity/Pedi when I was in school (if they took those classes in their LPN program). Good luck!!

I am a CNA. There is no such program that will allow you to bridge from a CNA to an RN. As mentioned earlier, the scope of a CNA's knowledge does not encompass that of an LPN or an RN. I too have been accepted into the nursing program. I had to take all of my sciences before entering into the program. If I were you, I would welcome the opportunity to take those classes because they build off each and you are going to need that body of knowledge in order to succeed in nursing school.

I am a CNA yes and I'm only asking this question because I have an Associate in Science, taken A&P 1&2 (was actually a tutor for it), taken ALL the pre reqs for the program, and have Passed 4 ADN classes in Delaware (NUR Fundamentals, NUR Materity, Delivery, & Pediatrics/Geriatrics, NUR Med Sug 1, and NUR Med Surg 2) which all were lecture, lab and clinical. My problem is I moved to Minnesota and they do not accept any NUR out of start course. So I was trying to figure out any way to jump ahead because that's a lot of school to retake!!!
