When I lived in Southern California 2 years ago, the clinic LVNs were earning slightly over $15 hourly. I'm now in North Central Texas, and the clinic LVNs start at $14 hourly. In both cases, the clinic LVNs were earning $5 to $7 less hourly than they would have earned at a nursing home or rehab hospital.
I work in a hospital clinic, and our pay is the same for all LPNs in my particular facility, may it be med-surg, ER or clinic nurses. I do learn a great deal, from a different perspective. And, yes, I would not exchange my weekends of holidays off for anyone. I do work side jobs on the weekends, but it is because I want to, not that I have to, and that makes a big difference!

I am considering switching from LTC to a clinic. The hours would be wonderful (holidays/ weekends off . . . haven't had that since I became a nurse). On the other hand, I am sure there would be a decrease in pay to make up for it. I would like to know what kind of figure is reasonable as an hourly wage in a clinic setting. Thanks in advance.
