  1. This is standard . . . I've been through 3 surgeries in the last 4 yrs. I wish you a speedy recovery.
  2. :icon_hug: Thanks, I needed to read this story today.
  3. I am considering switching from LTC to a clinic. The hours would be wonderful (holidays/ weekends off . . . haven't had that since I became a nurse). On the other hand, I am sure there would be a decrease in pay to make up for it. I would like to know what kind of figure is reasonable as an hourly wage in a clinic setting. Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM your reply if you would like.
  4. :yelclap: Thank you, I was stressing!
  5. I am trying to complete a "refresher" medication test and I am stuck on this question. "How long do you run in a IVPB of Tequin?" My drug book does not have Tequin in it and when I try to find information online . . . all that comes up is information regarding lawsuits about Tequin and recalls. Anyone that has this information please share. Thanks, Kandie
  6. Congratulations Lori! I have been lurking on this thread and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers since I really didn't know what to add. I sincerely want to thank you for sharing your situation. I'm over joyed that you're once again employed . . . I have a feeling you will love your new field. Best wishes! Kandie
  7. I have been a LPN for about 5 yrs . . . I toy with the idea of going back for my RN or getting out of nursing completely. I recently got a large tattoo that goes from my shoulder to my elbow. The sleeve of my scrubs cover all but the tip (most of the time). Administration does not have policies about tattoos at my facility and I have received many compliments on it. My dilema is that a co-worker made the statement "I guess you won't be going back for your RN now. They'll never accept you with that tattoo showing through white scrubs." I was taken back by this, obviously I hadn't thought about the affects of my new tattoo when applying to a RN program in rural southern oklahoma, lol. I've thought that I could just wear long sleeves when I apply and interview and it would probably mean covering it with bandages or such while in clinicals . . . . Any how, just wanted to see what others think . . . whether or not it will be a big deal and maybe warn others BECAUSE I honestly didn't think about this before hand.
  8. I have to say that this reply hit it right on the nose!
  9. Thanks for all the responses! I will definately look for the patterns that you all mentioned. I agree that the tops at Wal-mart are cheap enough but I live in a small town and I don't like showing up dressed like 2 or 3 other people, lol. I know that our work isn't a fashion show so no need to start harping on me . . . I love my job and I want to make original pieces to wear. So once again, thanks for the advice!
  10. I did a search before I posted but it was unsuccessful, I was wondering if anyone here sews their own scrubs? I want to try it, only I don't know where to begin . . . I was hoping someone would be willing to give me basics and pointers. I have about 5-6 weeks of post op recovery time ahead of me, so thought I would use that time to read up on sewing. Thanks so much for any help. Kandie
  11. :) hello everyone, i am soooooooooo glad to be back in oklahoma! i went to lpn school in durant, worked at mcso for 2 years (after the intial 6 months i loved it) and then moved to virginia where i worked in ltc for a year. i am in the ardmore area and returning to work in ltc on monday! lol, can you tell i have been off of work for almost 3 weeks?
  12. :rotfl: lol lol lol!!![quote=curlyfries]just before a new nurse graduate lifted a patient's gown to give an insulin injection, she said to the older gentleman, "there'll be a little prick" the 89 year old man, with a twinkle in his eye, returned, "oh, so you are a psychic, as well as a nurse!"
  13. There was a resident at our "sister" facility that called 911 because she heard the nurse say " will someone just shoot me" and thought she was suicidal!
