i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!

name: karen

school: brandon university, canada

program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing

what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.

biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!

what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!

my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!

i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll

I was working on my Masters in Library and Information Science. But I kept getting sick. I was diagnosed with asthma, and then mono AND then had gallstones and my gallbladder out. So I finally went on leave of absense (which I should have done, like 3 quarters earlier) and my Mom was helping me pack. She asked what else would I want to do if not librarianship and I said nursing??!!!

So here I am, almost two years later since I made that decision. I'm slightly impatient and wondering what I'm doing in a 3-year program. But oh well, I know it's a very good school. And I got in, on my first try.

I know what you mean about being slightly impatient! The next 3 years are looking long to me too. I have a slight asthma thing going too and the books in the library likely wouldn't do you any good whatsoever (well, your lungs, that is!!).

Man, I feel tired today!! So what job(s) are you working at this summer? I am directing at a summer camp.

Hey, '09ers! How's it going today? What are you busy with today?

Stoppin' by to say hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

name: becca

school: temple college to transfer next spring to umhb

program: 4 yr bsn in nursing, already have my aa from tc

what area of interest at this time: i would like to go on and become a crna.

biggest fear: ummmmm, i guess having my nieces forget about me while i'm away at school for my crna. none of the clinical stuff gives me the heebee-jeebies. i know i can do it if i try hard enough.

what you'd like us to know about you: i have two wonderful nieces that i've been attached to since birth. they are my surrogate children and my sweethearts. :heartbeat they are currently 4 and 5 and i can see the correlations between their play years and the life span growth and development chapter we're now covering. i think everyone should take that class if they plan on becoming a parent one day.

i've been interested in becoming a crna since my last surgery. i had a really bad reaction :uhoh21: to the anesthetic and the crna calmed me down and helped me breathe through the pain. i told her that i loved her and she told me that it was the vicodin talking, lol!

i am very excited to finish my pre-reqs and start nursing school. only 6 more classes to go!!! yay!!! :w00t: :w00t:

i'll probably be asking you other class of 09'ers for help with my micro and a&p ii. those are the only two science courses i have left to take.

i've recently gone through all the stickies from the pre-nursing forums and compiled a listing of all of the great links that people have put up and i'll be posting a myspace site soon with a link to those.

keep on the books, 09'ers!!!

Man, I feel tired today!! So what job(s) are you working at this summer? I am directing at a summer camp.

I work at a hospital for the transcription services doing corrections. It can get, and usually is, extremely boring. :o

Welcome, Becca! Great to see you here! The myspace page for the links sounds like an awesome idea!!! That will be really helpful! lol sounds like you're not overly enthused about your summer job but maybe it will be okay in the long run! Hope so!

Talk to you soon.

How was your weekend? So who all here is taking courses right now? What are you taking? I don't have anything until September, which I'm sure will come sooner than I think!!

Weekend's going fine. It's actually a three-day weekend for me, so I'm happy. No classes this summer, so I'm very happy. What I'm really excited about is a trip with my parents to DC at the end of this week. They keep on telling me I've overplanned and then they come up with something else they just have to see. :lol2:

Cool!! Hope you have a GREAT time! That's awesome! I really really need a trip away but it's not looking like I will get one until the end of summer. Is DC far away from your home? Guess I could look back in the earlier posts maybe lol. You live in HAWAII? Or are you just going to school there? Well, if it's Hawaii to DC that's quite a trip!

It's not that bad from Hawaii at 12 hours of travel time on a good day. I used to do this all the time when I went to college (the first time) in Vermont. I'm fine with it as long as people don't complain about how long it is from the West Coast to East Coast.
