Any CFCC students?

Published

Hello! I would like to meet other Central FL Community College nursing students. I am currently taking my prereqs. and I wanted to know more about their program.

Hi all,

I am currently a student at seminole state college of florida (aka. seminole community college). I am going to transfer to CFCC in the fall and (hopefully) get accepted into the RN program. I'm going to take the HESI this month and was hoping to gain some insight as to what the test is like. I took the TEAS about a month ago because I am also trying to get into a nursing program in Orlando. scored a 79. minimum is 73 so I am sort of satisfied. was wondering how the HESI compares with the TEAS. didn't have to study for the TEAS but I am getting a little anxious and wondering if I should try studying for the HESI. I would greatly appreciate any advice/tips/comments.

Thanks

I also am studying for the HESI at CF (CFCC). The website says that anatomy and physiology is not on the test, is that true?

hi ocalamom, i just took the hesi in mid-june at cf, and got my acceptance letter to the spring 2011 full-time class last week. the hesi is composed of several parts, all of which you take, but only four of which actually count.

reading comprehension

grammar

vocabulary

math

biology

anatomy&physiology

chemistry

personality style

learning style

the first four are the ones you must score an 80% or better on. the others don't count for your admission, although the learning and personality sections might be interesting to find out.

i found the test to be easier than expected, but make sure you can do basic math without a calculator, because you won't have one. also be sure to show up on time or early for the test, the guy was real strict on that. make sure you create an account at welcome to evolve! before the test day and know your login info or they may turn you away!

i wish you the best of luck in taking the test and getting in! the people in the nursing office are really nice. right now they're seating for the spring term, for full-time at least. maybe we'll be in the same class! =)

VERY good to know! Thanks so much. I need to make my appointment. Fractions are the hardest thing in the world for me! I'm going to take the test in the next week or two, and hope I get my acceptance letter! I'm taking A&P II, College algebra, and microbiology this coming semester so I should be all set! Did you have a hard time writing your essay? I have to do that yet too.

I would def. get on it ASAP! Try to take the test next Wednesday if you possibly can (they do it every Wednesday) and get your essay written by then so you can turn the entire application in on Thursday. Spots fill up super-fast, I'm told.

I didn't have a big problem with the essay though it is a little bit challenging to describe the role of a nurse (and how you will fill it) without sounding stuck up. I referred to the idea of nurse's responsibilities, a tiny bit about the history of nursing, umm... the various specialties and facilities a nurse can work in, stuff like that. Don't worry if you go over the page limit, I think mine was three pages of writing plus a title page and a bibliography. Make sure you cite sources if you use them!

Good luck!

thanks! I will do that!

Oh! And one more question if you don't mind...did you get your score right away?

They warned us it could take up to a week to get the results (the website emails them to you) but I got mine four hours after I was done with it. Supposedly it varies depending on how busy the testing company is at any given time.

Edit: Don't hesitate to ask any questions, heh, I'm not in classes yet or anything but I'm more than happy to help answer anything you might wanna know.

I appreciate it!! You've already been a big help. I had no one to ask about the HESI, and it was making me nervous! :))

:D Glad to be of some assistance. I have a HESI study guide in PDF form I could email to you, it's got most of the types of stuff that was on the test, and I found the math section to be especially helpful as I was weak in division, fractions, and decimals.

Ahhh!!! I'm just getting this now! I'm scheduled to take it tomorrow. I'd love it if you could send it to me. I can PM you my address?:yeah:

hey everyone, Im actually a califormnia resident but im thinking of moving back to florida in ocala. So I was wondering if anyone know what is the chance of me getting accepted into the RN program if I am not a florida resident yet? it takes a yr to establish that residency. Also, CFCC dont have a waiting list for the nursing program, correct? Also, for those who apply to the nursing program, did all of you got accepted into the semester you wanted? And it didnt take long to received the acceptance letter from the date you guy turn in the application rite? Because the school im attending now in california has a waiting list for nurising program of about 1 yr to 1 1/2 years.
