Any CFCC students?

U.S.A. Florida

Hello! I would like to meet other Central FL Community College nursing students. I am currently taking my prereqs. and I wanted to know more about their program.

Taking pre-reqs too, what kinda of info are you looking for. A very close friend of mine starts the RN program in August. I have another friend doing the LPN-RN bridge, she starts in May.

When will you be ready to apply? They did away with the waiting list, right?

Im looking to apply to their RN program. So when is the deadline to apply? Your friends been accepted into the program already for fall, wow they must do it early. Also do you know what her GPA and test scores were? Thanks in advance sorry for so many questions.

I won't be ready for awhile....two young children at home kinda limits my ability on when I can take classes! LOL

CFCC has started with the HESI Test as part of the application process. The HESI test is what did away with the waiting list. Also, they raised the minimum GPA on "core" courses (your pre-reqs). It is now a 2.75

They also give preference to those that live in Marion County.

Preference is given to those that score at least an 80 in each section. Those with a lesser score should retest (only three attempts can be made and you have to wait 4 months inbetween) The cost is 40.00

According to packet information,

"You may submit your application packet at any time (no fee) Applications received August through March are generally process within 6-8 weeks. Applications received from April-July are processed in August for teh part-time program and September for the full time"

My friend put hers in at the end of January and received her acceptance letter in less than 2 weeks. She had 90's on her HESI and her "core course" GPA is just over 3.0

Hope that helps...let me know if you have any other questions.

Okay, thats cool. So I have two more question what are you tested on in the HESI. I know it has 4 different parts or something like that right? And what are the core classes? Thank you for your help I really appreciate it, I will be going to the info session this thurs but its alway helpful to know what you're gettin in to before hand. Oh i almost forgot do you still have to write an essay? I know how you feel about the little ones have a 4 year old boy and its gonna be hard trying to juggle work, school, and taking care of a child. But many have done it before us and I know we can do it. Good luck to you.

The HESI consists of Math, Reading, Grammar, Anatomy and Physiology, Vocabulary and General Knowledge.

Yes the Essay still applies.

Core classes are basically your pre-reqs, you can't included grades from any other classes you may have taken.

Hi did your did your friend purchase the studyguide from CFCC in order to study? And about how long did she study before she took the test?

Yes, she purchorificed the Hesi Book from CF's bookstore. I think she studied for a week or so.

Specializes in Cardiac.

I just got into their RN program starting in the fall. So if you had any specific questions I would be happy to try and help.

Oh, wow...thank you! I have 2 more pre-reqs. I plan to apply after this semester. How long did it take you to get in?
