Hello! I would like to meet other Central FL Community College nursing students. I am currently taking my prereqs. and I wanted to know more about their program.
Wow, thank you for the information! I just printed out my nursing schedule for next semester. I am also in the process of completing my online orientation. I work full-time now (I won't be once I start nursing school) so I will have to adjust from being a full-time employee to a full-time student. I am really looking foward to it and I'm sure all of the hard work will be worth it.
Hello all,Can anyone advise on the typical schedule of an LPN student at CFCC? I'm trying to get some idea of what time classes start/end and if you have classes on Friday, when you do clinicals, etc. :typing Has anyone heard if there are seat still available for the RN program?
I have no Idea on LPN class Scheduals, But YES there are still opening in the RN program in Ocala, but hurry!
there were people accepted for fall days before Fall classes started.
If you have a complete application and everything is acounted for, Apply now.
If you can talk to someone ask to put a note on there that if it is full (because they won't tell you) to just process it for Fall.
Hey there, sorry for the delay, I took a break and then Second Semester hit me head on lol.
First Semester was so different than regualr classes, you are in a program and not just a class.
Pharmacology was hard, and I envied the people in the part-time program who only had that and Socilization into nursing, because Pharm needs so much memorization, while Intro to Nursing and Nursing one needs so much application lol.
Everyone in Citrus Passed, which is all we are really worried about on our tests these days lol, we were all straight A students, and geting an 89 was just unnacceptable, but now we are thrilled that we got that 77 lol
At orientation they offer books for sale( I think, either that or they just show you what they look like), and if you can buy them there, go ahead, if not the book store will know what you need, I got them all at once due to finaancial aide, but I wish I didn't have too, I got some books that we really don't HAVE to have but are good for reference.
If you don't have a stethoscope buy it from the SNA at the orientation, it is a Littman and its cheaper than the stores, same goes with the pen light. You don't need the clip board or much else though, but it is cheaper from them if you are going to buy something at Orientation.
Yeah, I bought all the books at the school since I was using fin. aid as well. I did purchase the required items from SNA. Tomorrow is our 2nd exam...Nutrition, Fluid & Elect. I hear this one is the hardest. Friday is our second pharm test. I am feeling what you said about the part-time students!
Thanks for the reply. I hope Nursing 2 is going good for you.
I agree that that (fluid electrolytes) one was the hardest test, I did the worst on it out of all my other tests. But some people who had not done as well as others seemed to to better on this one for some reason. Good luck!!
We just finished Psych (addict/alcoholics) and are starting Med surg next week at CMH. Ocala is on a different schedule. The psych nurse who teaches it, also the one who does support groups, can seem a little cooky, but she really does know what she is talking about, and you can learn a lot about the up coming psych rotation from support groups.

Taking my co-req while in the program on a Saturday is helpful because there is no NS classes on the weekend. Once you start next semster you will finally be given your schedual for nursing and you can talk to all of your instructors to see if everything is going to fit.
Perhpas you might have to be late once a week to your co-req, check with your instructor, they probably will understand, but I wouldn't expect the same generocity with your nursing instructors, but it never hurts to ask.
You are going to have to prioritize your classes. With Intro to Nursing and then once you pass that then Nursing 1 as your main priorities, then Pharmacology (though you have to pass your Dosage caclulations test with an 80, start brushing up on that, get the book if you havn;t already), then your Co-req, then socilization into nursing (only because this class is mainly self reflecting discussion questions in the first semester and doesn't start till your second 8 weeks anyway.
Why can't you devote the same to all of your classes? Because your nursing classes will require much more from you and you need a 75% to pass them. Yes GPA is important and you want to do well on all of them but you are already in the nursing program, if you get a C in your co-req, they won't kick you out, if you get a 74.99% in a nursing class, you will be kicked out.
A little on your schedual that is the same for citrus and ocala. Your Pharmacology will be fridays(unless they change it next year). In the first month you have a few meetings but the rest is Online, besides your tests which are about every two weeks. They usually have you block out most of your day for testing because of the sheer volume of students and the limited amount of computers (yes all of your tests for all of your nursing classes will be on the computer). You will be assigned color groups and whatever color you are designates the time you test at, or something like that, Here at the citrus campus we only have 11 so we can test at one time.
