Any CFCC students?

Published

Hello! I would like to meet other Central FL Community College nursing students. I am currently taking my prereqs. and I wanted to know more about their program.

Specializes in Cardiac.

I got in my first try. I applied while taking A&P 2 and still needing Micro and HUman growth. I will just be extra busy taking my co-reqs along with my nursing classes first and second semester.

Yeah, that is great though. I am also working on my essay...did you have any trouble with it?

The only part that was difficult was describing a nurses role, I didn't want to sound cliche.

But I just answered honestly about why I chose CFCC and which program, how I wanted to continue my education afterwards. I actually had trouble keeping it 2 pages lol.

Yes, I know what you mean. I wrote my draft and I think it might be too long.

Pinkster...how is your first week going?

Pinkster,

How long after you applied to the program did you receive your acceptance letter? I turned in my application last week for the January class. I was told they will start reviewing the applications in a few weeks and start sending out letters. I applied for both RN and LPN to cover all bases. Thanks and Good Luck.

Hey BellaRosey,

The first week is pretty chaotic. CFCC Swicthed from using Web CT for online classes to the ANGEL system and they were having difficulties getting the classes to show up or get students in their classes.. So we are little behind on our reading but the teachers are understanding because they are confused with the new system too. I had all summer to adjust to it, so I'm Ok with it now.

But besides the techincal difficulties it is OK, LOTS of reading and independant learing, powerpoints and such. We are all a little overwhelmed and are trying to get settled into this new schedual, our classes are at different times everyday so it makes it even more difficult.

Hi suzergal,

It was about 2 weeks. Everyone told me that if it took longer to call admissions and ask them just incase they havn't even looked at it yet. They are probably busy with the new semester and all.

Good Luck!

Pinkster, Hello again! Did you take your A&P classes at the Ocala or Lecanto campus?

Hi BellaRosey!

I took Both my A&P classes this past summer at the lecanto campus.

Did you like the instructors there? I am currently taking AP1 at the Ocala campus. Oh, I received my acceptance letter for the Jan. 2009 program!!

Congradulations! THey are sending out acceptance letters already wow! a few of my friends just took the HESI today or next week, they better hurry up I guess since they want to get into spring. Good job on getting a head start! lol

I liked my instructor durring A&P 1, but since it was the same teacher for 2, but he decided to change some of his methods and give more buy work, it was getting aggravating, so my repect for him went down. I do not feel I learned as much from A&P 2 as I did 1.

And now he is my Micro Lab teacher, so I'm so ready to finally get out of his class lol. I don't think he has another class, I think he is straying away from teaching at cfcc, probably because we are greedy little point grubbers who need every gpa point we can get so we can get into the nursing program and stay in it haha. That is just my hypothosis XD.

Anywho, Two people in the citrus program are currently undertaking A&P2 while in the program, and like us who are finishing up Micro are more stressed, but If you can, take it on Saturday, though it is horrible devoting a Sat. morning to school, but it is way better than being stressed because you have a weekday evening class that you might be late for every week. (as one girl has to do)

I noticed before registration period there was a Saturday option for AP2, but it was taken off. I registered for an evening class in Ocala. It is with the same instuctor I have now. I am happy with her teaching though. How hard is it to take coreqs. with nursing courses? Any advice?
