Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for new nursing students, that would help to read before like on my Xmas break before I start, or during my first semester. I start end of January. Thanks!

Do you think it's appropriate to start studying this book even during the first year of nursing school or is it too early?
I'm a first year and I use it religiously. In my opinion it's best used as a companion throughout nursing school because of the huge volume of material it includes. Too much to really expect to study for the NCLEX unless you really have a lot of catching up to do at that point. And I learn a lot from the questions while studying for tests. With the rationales you not only get the reason an answer was right, but also why the others are wrong, and that can be super helpful.

I wish someone had told me to buy these types of books when I started. I definitely would have understood prioritization and critical thinking in terms of nursing questions long before it finally clicked. Besides what has already been mentioned, I also recommend this book: Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 2e. This will definitely help you see where to prioritize. Also: Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2012-2013 Strategies, Practice, and Review. This is going to give you question strategies and will really help you how to read and break down the questions you are going to encounter. They aren't that expensive either and definitely worth picking up on Amazon or any other place you can get them relatively inexpensively. Good luck!
