Antelope Valley College LVN 2016

Published

Has anyone else applied for AVC's LVN program and waiting for those acceptance letters that are suppose to be arriving some time this month?

I am just curious if anyone else is going the LVN route, to eventually bridge over into a RN program.

Hi im going to be doing the LVN to RN bridge as well.. i saw your post about the respiratory program and that was my plan up until last year. I have heard there aren't very many jobs in that field and no where to grow. Antelope valley hospital cut out there RT's in the last couple years and many hospitals were rumoured to follow but thats just what i heard. This made me change my mind to go the LVN to RN route. Its a lot more work but has better job security. I also heard its easier to get into the RN program as well. Were in the same boat sister ;) If this doesnt pan out for me I'm taking medical assistant classes as a back up plan just until i can finish my RN pre reqs eeek :arghh:

Thanks for responding! I have been doing a lot of research on it, and that seems to be the common trend. I feel like my gut is telling that probably isn't my best option. If you read my post, "Help! I'm looking for advice!" I detail my nursing journey. lol. It's been stressful and disappointing to date.

Okay, glad I'm not the only one still waiting. I have a sneaky suspicion that we won't get the letters till the end of the month. However, that doesn't stop me from obsessively checking my mail. I really feel like this is my best shot, to finally get into nursing school. So, I'm hoping and praying that it all works out! Good luck to you, and please let me know when you get your letter! Fingers crossed

I did read it and im so sorry you had to go through that..it honestly seems unfair how they handled it..Mine hasnt been as bad but ive been thru atleast 3 major attempts at AVC in the past 5 years. I just cant find my calling and the one passion i do have is at a college too far to drive and i dont have the means to live close by plus it wont pay my bills in the long run..Its actually depressing because im 27 and no degree to date. but i feel i would be a great nurse but im just scared at the same time, thats why i have been putting this major off since i was 18...So i really hope this works out for both of us since weve both been on a journey.. ive been saying the same thing to my mom! They will definitely wait til the last minute to mail our letters argh! Lol :nailbiting:

I am in the same boat as you! I screwed myself a bit by not doing better in my microbiology, but it is what it is. I am going to re-take it at COC in the summer.

I have a good feeling about the LVN route, but I don't want to get my hopes up only to be disappointed. So, I'm preparing myself for the worst. haha. It's never to late to start, or at least that is what I tell myself! Keep at it!

I definitely feel that is what will happen, that is why I haven't freaked out, yet!

Same here, im trying to stay positive but its really hard :drowning:

Still waiting.. the suspense is killing me.

Same here uuugghhh! I wish they would hurry up already i dont want to buy books for my back up summer classes if i dont have to ..patience i keep telling myself :crying2:

So, I called the school today and spoke with Karen. Apparently, the LVN program is up for renewal with the board and they are still waiting on approval on whether or not they can have a Fall class. So, she said until they get the news they can't send out any letters. I asked her if she thought it would be another month or so, and she said she honestly couldn't say but that they are working closely with the consultant to get the decision made. Sooo, looks like a bit more waiting!:o

Wow really?? This is freakin ridiculous! Weve been waiting months and i dont want to take a summer class that i dont need...grr:mad: well thanks shay for the update i appreciate it

I agree. It's frustrating! Hopefully, we hear some news soon and that it is positive news!

Me too, well i called today and there still is a delay but she said that letters should be mailed out in the next 2 weeks
