Angry..

Published

I am moving from a big city to a little city. I applied for a position in my new city and they have put me through the ringer. Four interviews and counting! I have 3 graduate degrees and two undergraduate degrees and can run rings around anyone in their facility and feel they are treating me badly. I am to the point of telling them where to put their process.

However, I am trying t be a grownup! When can I tell them to kiss my !!!!!

I am ready to change plans and move to another city as I feel they are being mean and nasty! Am I being stupid? I worked dang hard for everything and they are treating me like a diploma nurse!

Two words...grow up!

Sincerely,

A Diploma Nurse (with a job)

At least you're getting interviews...that's more than I'm getting with my experience:yawn: That's why I'm stuck doing travel nursing right now. I'd kill to have what you're having right now, but I'm on nearly a year of not getting even an interview (or being told that they don't have the resources to "train me"-yet the jobs are still posted).

It's frustrating, but I'd stick with it. What choice do you have?

Your superiority complex turns me off.

I wouldn't hire simply because of this god complex. I'm sure you're intelligent but you need to settle-- you'll win no support by acting like a "too good for you" know it all.

Re-reading this thread, something struck a raw nerve! Some of the nurses I have learned the most from, respect the most, and would most want to care for my family, are diploma nurses and LPNs! The kind of pompous attitude you display in your post will not only keep you from getting hired, but also keep your co-workers from accepting you! Degrees or not, you need to mature a little (lot)!

I am "lower" than a diploma nurse. I have an ASN. I had 4 interviews to get my dream job.

Even a lowly ASN realizes that, there are many steps along the way to a 6 figure position. I never felt I was being poorly treated, realized the interview/hiring process was complicated.

A little humility goes a long way. By the way, I got my position.. and YOU?

Specializes in Nursey stuff.

I too am a diploma nurse. My love of bedside nursing came to me because I was also a LPN. My hospital does not recognize degrees (actually they don't know I have my MSN as I took it off my resume so I had a chance with my hiring nurse manager who had a BSN).

I went back to school for job security only and then got carried away. I am proud of my schooling, and looking back, as a diploma student, the amount of clinical experience was amazing. While I am proud of my degrees, I am more proud of the fact that I am a nurse..licensed or registered we all have worked hard to achieve that distinction.

Your comment regarding being "treated like a diploma nurse" is incredibly offensive. I'm a recent grad from a diploma program now working in the icu. I busted my ass to become an RN and for you to imply that diploma nurses are not as good as you/graduate nurses makes my blood boil. It doesn't matter how many letters you have after your name, at the end of the day you're an RN just like the rest of us.

I'm going to say it's your attitude and cockiness is why you were having such a hard time getting hired. If this is how you behaved in your interview, I wouldn't hire you either. Maybe try toning it down some. No one likes a know it all.

Btw I'm sure there are a ton of 'diploma nurses' that can run circles around everyone!!! Good luck with your job hunt. You'll need it!!
