Anatomy & Physiology-HELP Identifying Bones

Published

Does anyone have any good sites or other resources that helps with identifying bones and tissues? Any tips or recommendations for passing lab practicals would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

I would cover up the pictures in your lab manual and textbook with sticky notes and right out the structures on a separate sheet of paper until you have them all memorized. Remember its all about memorization and what functions are involved with each structure. That is what helped me.

This is what I did when taking A&P and I found it helpful. I used quizlet, Google, and my textbook came with a book full of pictures of the major bones and muscles. I also spent every opportunity in open lab I could do if that's an option for you I would suggest that as well. Good luck :)

Ok I've been using google and my textbook. Thank you!

I see you're in the same area as me. What school are you attending?

The book Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank H. Netter is a great resource to use. Hands on is the best way to learn as well as using google. With the resources from class and the resources I have listed, you should be successful with anatomy!

Masteringaandp.com was what my classes used and they had empty pictures and word bank to fill it in...I printed then off and made them into flash cards and memorized them that way. Practice, practice, practice is the only thing that will help!

Also, get into the lab a practice. You can look at picture after picture, but nothing compares to being there looking at the actual bone. If asked to identify a particular landmark on a bone, there is no way that just looking at the book is going to help you.

We don't have open lab at my school. If we did, I would just study there, and not need extra study tools lol.

I have signed up for mastering so hopefully that and Google will suffice.

Thanks.

They have no open lab time for you to go and work with/practice with the specimens, models, or whatever your school uses? That really is a shame!

I have this app that I use called Anatomy learning and its gr8 u should try it

I used to use models and just feel and see the parts 😉 again and again and again, till I got em. Models for me were super helpful for me. Also that with the combination of the essential skeleton app for devices was the icing on the cake.
