  1. It never changes the exam jitters. I am in my second semester of nursing school and sometimes I feel like I do not know how to study. Nursing exams are a completely different beast than any pre req classes you have taken. I would suggest like they say use the PPT as your guide for reading the chapters. Always always do the question at the back of the chapter also to kind of see what topics you comprehended. I never read the full chapter that takes forever focus on whats highlighted in the powerpoint if its a page on Unstable Agina then read the whole section and make notes on the PPT. Hope that helps. What I do for drug therapies and intervention I tend to write those out.
  2. Thank you GrnTea and everyone that helped me for the helpful information I will read the article and btw I passed my med IV calculation test today now I need to study for my HTN and Diabetes theory quiz.
  3. yes that makes it more clear i appreciate your help i have a IV med math test tomorrow
  4. Do you have 350 ml left from if it infused 75ml/hr over 2 hours 350ml/100ml = 3.5 or 3hr 3min
  5. Do you have 350 ml left from if it infused 75ml/hr over 2 hours
  6. i been trying to figure this problem out for the life of me and I googled and still no luck. I want to know how to set up a formula when an IV rate is increased or decreased. The doctor orders 500 mL D10W to infuse at 75 mL/hr. The nurse start the IV at 1330. At 1530 the IV rate is increased to 100 mL /hr, per doctors order. Starting with the amount of IV Fluid remain at 1530, calculate the new infusion time and completion time of the IV.
  7. I would cover up the pictures in your lab manual and textbook with sticky notes and right out the structures on a separate sheet of paper until you have them all memorized. Remember its all about memorization and what functions are involved with each structure. That is what helped me.
  8. Hey nice to meet you yes our orientation is next Monday I am excited and nervous at the same time, because we are still getting tested on our nursing skills as well. Yes I purchased my books for Nursing 103 around Christmas and they just arrived today. What about you?
  9. If this is something you really want go for it. If you still have a chance to drop the class I would drop it with a W then to have a bad grade to lower your GPA. If you are struggling with your pre-req its very telling how you will do in the nursing program. I hope you can pull yourself up and get back on track goodluck.
  10. What are your grades in your pre req ? have you taken all your pre reqs i would suggest you take them all before getting in the program I do not know anything about books yet until i got to orientation then I can update you. I would also suggest you take nursing informatics too to knock at as many classes as possible. Good luck and I hope to see you in the program.
  11. I was accepted to Oakton I do not believe they are lying about anything first off. Secondly its a computer that selects the students and ranks them. Just like with any selection process there are more things they take into account when making an admission decision. Because if they just looked at NLN scores believe me a lot of people wouldn't make it into the program. I can only speak off of my experience and me being accepted into the program based on my credentials. My Credentials: 3.8 GPA NLN- 80 percentile All pre req completed prior to admission Including Nursing Informatics
  12. Thats not always true I had a lower NLN score and had a high GPA and got accepted into the spring program. I also had all of my pre req completed as well.
  13. I was accepted to the spring semester a couple weeks ago and I am trying to connect with other students that might have been accepted. Also what should I expect my first semester in NURS:nurse: 103 AND 104. Any help from previous or current students would be great. I haven't seen a new thread in a while so I wanted to start one.
