  1. I am currently a psych nurse, who's only done psych nursing. I've plotted out becoming a PMHNP for the longest time but I'm curious if it might be better to pursue a FNP with a PMHNP certification just to be more well rounded. The thought of going into med surg is totally intimidating and makes me feel I'd be deficient as a PMHNP without first becoming a FNP. I'm curious of your thoughts. Thanks!
  2. Hi Y'all, I'm interested in travel nursing because I want to potentially work in CA with a high pay rate but then live in a state with a low cost of living. Is anyone doing this? How is it going? I've wondered if it is worth it because you still have to pay rent when you travel right? Then you could be paying for a rental and a mortgage which would seem to negate a higher pay rate. Let me know your thoughts. I am a psych nurse have a pretty darn good position in CA already. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for that.
  4. That's what i was curious of.
  5. Hi there, I've been working in mental health for the last 10 years or so and am pursuing a degree in nursing to be a psychiatric nurse and later an NP. I've worked for a good number of different organizations working with adults and kids with mental health issues. Some organizations addressed peoples needs better than others and generally did a better job of helping people with MH disorders. My question is about organizations or schools that take new, innovative, and effective approaches to mental health. Does anyone work for an organization or go to a school that they feel is on the cutting edge of care for people with mental health disorders? or at the very least do a really good job of it? I'm curious to know. Looking to find successful institutions, Michael
  6. Just FYI. This year there were open spots so they didn't even all the seats they had. You might get lucky and have the same thing happen this year.
  7. From my research and seeing a few other posts, transferring core nursing classes doesn't happen ever. Does you school offer both an ADN and a BSN. Maybe they might transfer to the same school, but other schools. I really doubt it.
  8. I'm pursing an ADN after contemplating everything from a BSN to an accelerated MSN (I already have a degree). I decided on an ADN because it's the cheapest and I'm thinking I'll be able to work while going to school. (School costs money and not working costs money too.) My plan is to be open to working anywhere to get experience while pursing an online BSN. I know that if I wasn't open to going wherever it might be hard to find a position where I live, but I'm thinking it'll be fine if I'm flexible.
  9. Failing the passion prereq. I like that. I'm glad to know someone else has been where I'm at.
  10. Hi, I'm having a few insecurities around pursing nursing. I had a friend tell me how his other friend is passionate about what he learned in school and that is why he loves nursing. He then went on to ask me why I wanted to do nursing and I couldn't say that I'm passionate about what I'm learning. Right now I am only taking Anatomy and Physiology and doing well. I have an A. Go ME! My question comes from the fact that even though I am doing well in the class and understand the material, I can't say I'm passionate about it. I don't get a thrill from learning new anatomy. My question is what does that say about wanting to be a nurse? As a nurse are you passionate about the human body? I want to be a nurse so I can have a career that is hands on and helping people. Also to make a living wage while doing it. Let me know your thoughts.
  11. I'm going to Alaska! No joke.
  12. Ugh, I wish I could edit these posts,
  13. I used to use models and just feel and see the parts 😉 again and again and again, till I got em. Models for me were super helpful for me. Also that with the combination of the essential skeleton app for devices was the icing on the cake.
  14. Andy, what Lvn program did you go to?
