AMNP at UAB Summer 2011 Applications

Has anyone applied for the AMNP Summer 2011 term? It's been 3 weeks since the deadline for applications and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything?

They say interviews will be held in Feb. and they will give ample time to prepare for a trip, but I'm worried since its already Feb and I havent heard anything! Also, will they let us know if we dont make it to the interview round? Will they send rejection letters or just never tell us?

I feel the same way...I feel really rushed and I'm stressed out too! I only got the email about the background check/drug screen. Has anyone ordered polo shirts and how do you do that?? Has anyone gotten a BlazerID yet?

Okay I'm concerned because I haven't gotten that drug test email....

We got an order form for our uniforms and polos at the interview and no blazer ids yet

I wish more AMNP students were on here so we could all commiserate about how hectic things are getting.

So, after pestering one of the program managers and fiddling around on blazernet, I finally got a B-number, which will let me register for a BlazerID whenever the system gets around to updating itself and decides to bestow one upon me. :rolleyes:

Still haven't gotten any more info about financial aid, though.

Yeah, I have a B00 number too, but no blazer id. We have to wait for them to notify us about that. I bet we're not even in the system yet and probably won't get our info til like super last minute.

I may call tomorrow and ask/bother them about a few things. They need to get on this because it's stressing us all out and we haven't even started school yet. Unnecessary.

Hey ya'll! Sorry I haven't been posting! I hope everybody is having a good week:)

So, I'm with ya'll with the nervous stomach about financial aid! I like, don't understand why they tell us something will be done by a certain day and it still isn't done and is taking FOREVER!

I really need to know how much money I'll be awarded so I'll know if I can afford this and what other steps, financially, I'll need to take. Have you all thought about scholarships? I feel like we've missed to deadline for the application, if the website is correct, but I totally need scholarships or any aid that will help!

Did you finally get the email about the EXPENSIVE background and drug test?

And how did you guys get your B00 number? I have no clue what that is and how to get it...someone fill me in PLEASE.

Has anyone gotten any feedback as to why we are not in the system yet?

Do you guys have your shot records and stuff in? I'll fax mine in Friday after my titer results get back.

And, has anyone order a stethoscope? Are ya'll ordering a Lithman or something cheaper? I want a Lithman but I'm scared of it "walking off" in clinicals.

So glad to know there are others that feel my same frustration. I am very proud to have been accepted into this program but the lack of organization is starting to scare me:(

Does anyone have to get vaccinations? My house flooded recently and all my records were destroyed. I'm trying to get in touch with my pediatrician (although records would be from 10 years ago), but if they don't have copies I guess I have to start all over? Yikes!

I've lived in Birmingham my whole life-- I'd be happy to recommend some apartments if you'd like. There are some good places within walking distance, and good places within a short driving distance, so you'll have a lot of options. I'm actually just up the hill from Mayfair Apartments (Hi AuTiger :) ) in Wildforest Apartments across from Brookwood Hospital. It is an awesome location and SO convenient to EVERYTHING!

My husband, children, and I are transferring from Texas. Can you recommend a family friendly place to live that is within 15-20 miles from UAB? My oldest will be in Kindgergarten next year; how are the schools?

Other scholarships: They told me in the interview that I qualified for some minority scholarship due to my hispanic background, but I have not been able to find the info to apply. I'm going to try, but if I can't get a scholarship it won't be the end of the world. This program is relatively short, and we can start working after a year to make some money. Scholarships will help, but I can live without.

Drug test: Have NOT gotten the email and I'm worried so I will call in a few mins actually haha.

B00 #: Okay, I actually got this months ago when I was playing around on the financial aid website. I cannot remember where and how because I just kinda stubbled upon the link. Just look around on that web page and hopefully you can find it! It allows me to log into the financial aid website where we will accept our awards. I actually was able to update my bank account info today and see whatever holds I have on my registration status.

BlazerID: I have no idea when we'll be in the system.

Med clearance: Have not sent my info in yet. Need to do that ASAP.

Stethoscopes: I am ordering the classic. In the raspberry color! :) We have an option to get it initialed at no cost, which I am doing. It's only $66 so not the end of the world if it gets lost. Also, the lightweight one that they offer is cheaper, so you could go for that option. A girl in AMNP told me that's what she had and was relatively happy with it, but she was going to order a classic since it is a little better.

And yes, the lack of organization absolutely terrifies me...

Scholarships aren't the end of the world for me either, but I would be happy to get one:)

I handled my drug test and background check today....It was pretty harmless! And easy! So I can mark that off my list.

I'm about to search the financial aid page to try and find my B00#. If all else fails, I'll call the financial aid office.

I'm totatlly praying we get some sort of email about financial aid, being in the system, and all that jazz between now and tomorrow...

Two of my sisters are respiratory therapists, so one of them is giving me a one of their Lithmans...Or I'm telling MOM:clown:

I am also in the AMNP program, and have been reading everyone's posts... so I decided to join. I just wanted to thank AUtiger so much for posting how to get a B00. That was very helpful! I also have figured out how to get a BlazerID and just wanted to share that with everyone. Go to uab's main website and click on "BlazerID." It' pretty simple, and it will lead you through the process. Good Luck!
