I'm getting really upset about leaving Auburn as well I thought they had a 2nd degree BSN too... maybe they don't anymore? Auburn used to offer an accelerated program like UABs but they don't anymore, or else I'd just stay here.

msmosser, I paid $30/year at Auburn so anything is expensive to me! Plus I usually take the transit anyways which is free. inactiveRN, I am graduating from Auburn this semester! And yes, AUSON is so competitive! I know tons of people who don't get in... I was accepted into the AMNP at UAB and never took a single class there. It should not matter where she takes her prereqs. I am going in with a Chemistry degree, but they accept any type of degree, I believe. However, I will say that a science degree would be more benificial. Just kind of gives you a leg up on what to except academically from more challenging courses. I was accepted with over a 3.2 GPA and was able to waive the GRE for UABs program. So if she maintains over this 3.2 limit, she won't have to worry about it for UAB. However, most schools do not offer that option. Don't know anything about the Teas, but I've heard it's not too difficult. I believe it is some kind of standardized pre nursing test, but don't quote me on that hah. The GPA UAB is concerned with is overall GPA. Please let me know if you have any questions once I start the program! I'd love to have another AU grad join me at UAB! Parking is probably going to be difficult....I tried to apply for a parking pass but it wouldn't let me for some reason. There is a lot we can park in next to the SON but it would come out to be $6/day which would add up so quickly! There are other free lots around campus but they probably fill up fast, so I don't really know what to do yet. I wish I was living right downtown and could walk. Or a bike might be a good investment hah

It's okay! Yeah I'm waiting to do my next TB test and I'll be done. And as for that nurse, well, we will be a million times better

Yeah I almost had a breakdown on Friday when I couldn't register and Ms. Lavier was out of her office. I was freaking out trying to call everyone in the SON, but I feel alot better now after talking to Mr. T. And yes, without this website, I wouldn't be surviving. I'm sooo glad we're all on this thing. I was trying to tell my roomies about it and they thought I was super nerdy but we probably all are.

Yeah, I got confused about that. Someone on here had mentioned that we could register without med clearance completed, but when I talked to a registration lady, she made me feel like an idiot. But no worries, I spoke on the phone this morning with Mr. Tofani, and he said just try to get everything in as soon as you can. No rush, because they blocked off enough number of seats for everyone to register. Also, I talked to an AMNP student from the very 1st cohort and he said that on the first day of classes, there were some people in there that had not been able to technically register and some people who had not even graduated yet because the summer program started before they were finished with undergrad haha.....so point is, were good! I don't really know why they established that Apr 15 deadline Also I asked my AMNP friend if he had bought books for his classes, and he said he did buy books, but regretted paying for some of them because he never used them. He told me to wait and decide which books would be worth buying, so helpful hint if any of ya'll were debating buying books like I was...

Yeah I was concerned about the estimates too.....but I wasn't going to worry about it til monday haha. Thanks for calling them today! And I don't think I'll be able to register on time either. But it shouldn't be a big deal. I mean, as long as we register sometime around the 15th right? Surely we won't lose our spots And yes, I'm getting so anxious to meet everyone! It's going to be funny putting names with faces. I feel like no matter what our real names are, we'll still think of each other as our screennames on here haha

Omg ya'll, this is finally coming together. I feel a million times better about this financial aid stuff and I'm able to actually see how much I was offered!! Go here http://main.uab.edu/Sites/apply/financial_aid/ and click "Financial Aid Application Status" Click the Financial Aid tab Click Award Click Award for Aid Year Select 1011 Award Year (Remember this will be for the Summer term. It falls in the 2010-2011 academic year. We will have separate awards for our Fall and Spring terms next year for 2011-2012) Click Award Overview and all the info is there!! Make sure you submit the Title IV form and do the entrance couseling. If you click Accept Award Offer, you'll see you have these requirements to do before you can accept your award. You'll also need to provide bank account info which is under the student tab

olliegirl, Other scholarships: They told me in the interview that I qualified for some minority scholarship due to my hispanic background, but I have not been able to find the info to apply. I'm going to try, but if I can't get a scholarship it won't be the end of the world. This program is relatively short, and we can start working after a year to make some money. Scholarships will help, but I can live without. Drug test: Have NOT gotten the email and I'm worried so I will call in a few mins actually haha. B00 #: Okay, I actually got this months ago when I was playing around on the financial aid website. I cannot remember where and how because I just kinda stubbled upon the link. Just look around on that web page and hopefully you can find it! It allows me to log into the financial aid website where we will accept our awards. I actually was able to update my bank account info today and see whatever holds I have on my registration status. BlazerID: I have no idea when we'll be in the system. Med clearance: Have not sent my info in yet. Need to do that ASAP. Stethoscopes: I am ordering the classic. In the raspberry color! :) We have an option to get it initialed at no cost, which I am doing. It's only $66 so not the end of the world if it gets lost. Also, the lightweight one that they offer is cheaper, so you could go for that option. A girl in AMNP told me that's what she had and was relatively happy with it, but she was going to order a classic since it is a little better. And yes, the lack of organization absolutely terrifies me...

Yeah for real, I wish more people were writing on here so we could have more input haha Yeah, I have a B00 number too, but no blazer id. We have to wait for them to notify us about that. I bet we're not even in the system yet and probably won't get our info til like super last minute. I may call tomorrow and ask/bother them about a few things. They need to get on this because it's stressing us all out and we haven't even started school yet. Unnecessary.

Ugh this is soo unorganized! That's the one complaint my friend had that's been through AMNP. Okay well hopefully theyll do it tomorrow. I really need my money to order uniforms, books, etc. Thanks for the info, very helpful!

Okay...breathe haha See I think we'll recieve some money for the summer and then alot more for fall and spring but I could be totally wrong! And yes anything you find out would be most helpful! I called them last week and asked a couple questions. I guess I was going to wait until I recieved my blazerid and registered for classes and then figure all this out .....

Okay, well I filled out the FAFSA...what is this GradPlus loan? I thought they would just figure out how much we needed for school + cost of living and just give us whatever that amount is. And what's confusing about our program is that it falls into 2 academic school years. So there's a FAFSA for 2010-2011 that covers our summer term and another for 2011-2012 that covers our fall and spring semesters. So that's just more to figure out: getting a loan for the summer semester only. So much to think about and I'm constantly worrying I didn't do this right and I won't be able to pay for anything. And about that email: definitely didn't get that. The only thing at all that I've even recieved was an email about ordering two polo uniform shirts....but already knew that. I'm starting to worry because we have to register for classes next week and I haven't heard anything. All of this is stressing me out
