AMNP at UAB Summer 2011 Applications

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

Has anyone applied for the AMNP Summer 2011 term? It's been 3 weeks since the deadline for applications and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything?

They say interviews will be held in Feb. and they will give ample time to prepare for a trip, but I'm worried since its already Feb and I havent heard anything! Also, will they let us know if we dont make it to the interview round? Will they send rejection letters or just never tell us?

Thanks!

Hey ya'll! I got accepted too:) I can't wait to have faces to put with ya'll's names! BamaMegan, I'm married, with a son, soooo, I'll be commuting each day from Jasper, AL (about a 40 minute drive:eek:). It could totally be worse though because they told me of people in my interview that travel like an hour and a half each way, each day! yikes:eek:

Anywho, there's tons of places to live in Birmingham! Good luck finding a place:)

Again, I can't wait to meet you guys!

Wow, and I was complaining about my 5 min drive haha. I insisted on living downtown within walking distance but my roommates were against that.

I'm so pumped to meet everyone too!

Wow, Olliegirl, that is a long way! I look forward to meeting everyone! I wonder if more students will post, so we can all talk about the program!!!

I was just accepted as well! I'm so excited to meet everyone!

Does anyone have to get vaccinations? My house flooded recently and all my records were destroyed. I'm trying to get in touch with my pediatrician (although records would be from 10 years ago), but if they don't have copies I guess I have to start all over? Yikes!

I've lived in Birmingham my whole life-- I'd be happy to recommend some apartments if you'd like. There are some good places within walking distance, and good places within a short driving distance, so you'll have a lot of options. I'm actually just up the hill from Mayfair Apartments (Hi AuTiger :) ) in Wildforest Apartments across from Brookwood Hospital. It is an awesome location and SO convenient to EVERYTHING!

So, who all is gonna do the CPR class on May 12? It's only $20, which is awesome, because the RedCross here in Jasper has a class, but it's $60.

msmosser, surely you wouldn't have to restart completely. I'm sure your pediatrician can help you out. And I'm glad you recommend the area! I'm not thrilled about living in Bham because of traffic, but I'm hoping I get used to it quickly... Kinda off subject, but where is the closet Gold's Gym to that area?

Olliegirl, I'm not doing the CPR class because I was actually recently certified, but I'm wishing I had waited because you're right, $20 is a good deal!

Has anyone been able to get a Blazer ID yet??

Okay guys...help motivate me and say "That drive won't be that bad!":yeah:

I think the only vacination I'll need is an update to my tetorifice! At least that's what I hope! shots are not my favorite things:no:

And BamaMegan, I'm so glad you asked the question about the BlazerId. I faxed my acceptance letter in on Friday and have received confirmation that Mrs. Lavier has it, but I don't have a Blazer Id either. I thought they said we'd be getting tons of emails this week! I haven't gotten one! Have ya'll gotten any?

MsMosser,

You won't have to start over...they can give you "titers" (I hope I spelled that right!) to make sure you've had certain vacinations. They told me in the interview that it's a little more time consuming but it can be done...so No Worries:D

Olliegirl,

I am thinking that they will probably send us our student numbers via email once they get our acceptance forms because we need a student number in order to get a blazer id. I hope we get it soon..we need to register for class relatively soon! I have not gotten any emails yet either!!

Hi everyone, I interviewed last Friday and got accepted! I've been lurking on allnurses for a while and decided to finally sign up since I am now officially almost a nursing student. :nurse:

Anyway, I faxed my acceptance form today, so I'm waiting for my Blazer ID so I can register and all that.

I'm going to get my physical, Tdap booster, and start my Hep B series later this week.

I'm soooo confused/worried/scared about student loans. I have no clue how much to borrow, if it will be disbursed in time, etc. If anyone has any tips, I'd be grateful for info.

Also, I would love to share an apartment in the 5 points/southside area with another AMNP student, so if you're looking for a roomie, let me know!

Congrats to everyone else who got in!

Congrats bclair!

I am also looking for a roomie and would prefer to live with a student in the southside/homewood area. Basically, I am looking for a safe place that is also affordable. I would love to talk more with you about it, and possibly meet each other. I currently am in Tuscaloosa at UA. Let me know!

Megan
