AMNP at UAB Summer 2011 Applications

U.S.A. Alabama

Has anyone applied for the AMNP Summer 2011 term? It's been 3 weeks since the deadline for applications and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything?

They say interviews will be held in Feb. and they will give ample time to prepare for a trip, but I'm worried since its already Feb and I havent heard anything! Also, will they let us know if we dont make it to the interview round? Will they send rejection letters or just never tell us?

Thanks!

I cannot believe it's taking this long! I've been wondering about it! Geez, it'll be a week tomorrow since I found out. I'm sure it's going to be good news though! Maybe it took them a while to print letters, stamp them, and mail them. Who knows because it seems to take them forever to do everything

Yeah I think they're taking their precious little time getting the letters out. Don't they realize the wait is driving us aspiring advance practice nurses insane?!?! :banghead:

Haha they should be more considerate!! They are making me really nervous about my future...however, I'm still going to look for apts this afternoon in bham.

I've also been wondering why no one but us is commenting in this thread, are we the only two that applied because that would be great! I read all the threads from 2009 and 2010, and they seemed to have a lot of responses.

P.S. Your smiley faces are craking me up

Hey ya'll! TideAlum10, my gpa on the required course work was a 3.22. (And no, I didn't maind you asking!)

Have you gotten your letter yet? If I were you, I'd turn into a little stalker and make someone tell me something over the phone. I totally bug the program coordinator all the time and she responds to emails pretty fast. If you don't have a letter by Monday, I think you should call...it would make your nerves feel better;)

I'm totally worried about tuiton costs, financial aid, etc...because I'm planning to quit a full-time job if I do get in the program:uhoh3: And I was told by someone on the phone that working part-time will be pretty impossible the first year.

And AUTiger, let's hope we're the only three that applied....then, we're in for sure! ha!:D

Have ya'll heard anything else, besides the message boards, about the program and the intensity?

olliegirl,

I'm so glad to hear of another person that has applied! And yes, I have a friend that has gone through the program. He's the one that recommended it to me, and he seemed to like it, so it should be pretty good. And yeah, I don't think we should work the first year, but in the long run, not working for one year to get your master's is totally worth it. I'm getting student loans, and don't care how much I have to borrow because we have the rest of our lives to work, so it'll all be worth it! I just plan to eat raman noodles for a while until I can get on my feet hah

I actually talked to the coordinator the other day and she said they were "in the process" of getting the letters out and probably should be in by Saturday. I would hate to be a nuisance but this is my future career at stake here!!!!!

AUTiger

The smileys on here are awesome!

I looked at them the other day and they are pretty hilarious!

I'm working on all this damn financial aid stuff for AMNP and it's so much work and kinda confusing

(And totally unrelated: but I'm loving everything your sweet Bama fans are doing to raise money for our Toomer's fund. We love ya'll and appreciate it! RTR and WDE!)

I love how AU and UA fans have united over the Toomer's Corner incident. The guy that did that is an idiot. RTR and WDE indeed!:cheers:

Haha well has your letter still not come?! It better come today, it's been way too long!

Hey guys,

I applied for the AMNP program as well. I got the letter for the interview. I am worried about how the financial aid is going to work if the interviews are not till march 24,25th and we won't know if we will be accepted till end of march or 1st week of April. AuTiger, Can you apply to financial aid without knowing of acceptance yet?

Hey guys!

I'm currently in the AMNP program and saw that some questions about financial aid were raised, I was thinking I might be able to help a little. :)

They do tend to keep you guys hanging and do some things last minute, like the interviews and other important meetings, but they get around to it. As for financial aid, it has been a huge headache for us! Be careful with your money. It will be hard, and there are quite a few unexpected expenses at first. Don't- I repeat, do not move your financial aid around without asking about the repercussions for later semesters, and budget well. We're trying to get these financial issues resolved, since we're having to deal with them, too, but navigating the system is proving to be difficult.

Good luck at the interviews!
