American River College Spring 2016

Published

Hello! I have been looking for a thread for ARC for Spring 2016 and have yet to see one so decided to start one myself! Anyone applying for ARC's ADN program for Spring 2016 that want to share any questions or concerns while we wait for acceptance letters? This is my 5th time applying and am really hoping this is my lucky semester!

The class schedule for spring '16 says January 16th, that is a Saturday. I think nursing classes will officially start Tuesday, January 19th

I appreciate the response FutureRN! Best of luck.

I can't even think that far ahead yet!

I've been checking like crazy too, so know you all aren't alone! I had until Oct. 30th to turn in my transcripts, which is when my status finally changed to qualified, so I really think acceptance notifications will be this Friday. How is everyone holding up? I've been eating like crazy and checking my email 20 times a day, and even double checking eservices several times a day in case I miss an email, lol!! I was also wondering if anyone had any information on the River City Collab with Sac State, such as the criteria they use to pick the students for the 5 semester BSN merger? Good luck everyone, we've almost made it! :D

While the official start of classes is on a Saturday, that's for the Saturday classes. It'll be just like any other class you've taken. Some of your classes have run MWF, some T-Th. Your first day of class that first week will follow the usual pattern.

OK, follow me for a second while I brain storm, and since we are still playing the waiting game, I figured we can sit and chat a bit about speculations.

So, even if you scored low, you still can be qualified but not placed in the pool. If you score high enough, like 70 and above, you can probably assume you've made the pool. You just have to assume that they have accepted all your documentations and that you received all the points you applied with. There's really no way of knowing for sure that you've made the pool.

My million dollar question: Will everyone get an email one way or the other by the 8-week mark? And I'm speaking only about ARC. I know every school does things differently.

I'm kinda relieved that no one heard back today. That means we will likely wait two more weeks. What is everyone doing for distractions?

Everyone should hear back from ARC about their applications, either way, by the deadline they provide. While I'm no prognosticator, in years past, they've usually responded during the 7th week following close of the application filing period. They've made some changes in the application process from when I applied, so they may have to push things as far back as week 8.

I really hope we hear something soon, I have to submit my decision to another school that I was accepted to by Thursday, but ARC is my number one choice... The wait is killing me!!

Just know that after all the waiting, you'll be scrambling to complete so many tasks before orientation. A physical, proof of immunizations, likely proof of flu shot, drug test, a few online certifications. And!!..... Be prepared to spend a small fortune on books! Yes, the e books are worth it. I didn't buy them, but found out that certain online access codes are required and others just make your life easier!!

Good luck and fingers crossed for you all!!

MP, why ARC is your 1st choice? Close to home?

Yes, I am about 10 min from ARC

What changes?

This is great information. Thank you! Might as well prepare now, than scramble last min! Keeps the mind occupied. :) blessings to you all soon-to-be nurses out there!
