Anyone applying for Fall 2015 want to share info? Aka share nervous concerns until we find out in a few weeks? ;-p
Congrats @nursewannabeee that's awesome!!! I got an email from SCC saying I was selected as an alternate for Spring 2016. Soooooo just more waiting!
Seriously guys, if we stay dedicated and want it bad enough, WE WILL DO IT! Stay positive everyone, and let's hope that we here from the other schools soon!
Hi nikkim228! I applied for Fall 2015 and am definitely nervous during this waiting period! It sounds like we should be hearing back in less than a month (8 weeks out from March 6th deadline puts us at May 1st….but hopefully we hear back sooner!). Have you heard much about the program? I've read most of the threads on allnurses, but don't know anyone personally that is currently in the program. Would love to know more about class schedules (rigor, teachers), clinicals, etc.
Hi StacyAnn! I'm in the first semester of ARC's ADN program. I LOVE it. :) I can give you the basics... class schedule is:
Mon- OFF
Tues- 7:30 to 1pm (sometimes 12 pm)
Wed- 7:00 to 1-ish for the first 5-6 weeks, then 7:00 to 10:40 lecture and at 12:00 or so you go to the hospital you're doing clinical at to prep for Thurs & Friday clinical.
Thurs - 6 am - 12pm-ish for the first 5-6 weeks. After the first 5-6 weeks you will start clinical. Depending on the shift you get, it could be 6am - 2pm or 2:30pm to 10:30 pm.
Friday- same as Thursdays. :)
The professors are all FABULOUS. Each has their own teaching style, so you'll have to see for yourself who you'll appreciate the most.
It is VERY challenging. There is a TON of reading and preparation. There's no room for slacking, that's for sure! :) Tests are difficult and your grade in the class is pretty much 90% test grades.
Clinicals are very fun. This semester we have 2 different hospitals and 4 different shifts to choose from. Actually, it's not much of a choice... everyone draws a number, then you sign up for your shift in order. So, if there's 40 people in your class and you draw number 39 or 40, you won't have much choice in which clinical you get. There's 10 students per shift, per hospital.
That's the basics... Is there a specific question you'd like me to answer?
Good luck to you all! I hope to see you next semester. Make sure to sign up for the Student Nurse Association! :)
Thank you so much Kathy for the insight into the first semester schedule! I really appreciate it and I'm so glad to hear classes are going well (albeit, tough with exams) and that you are finding the professors to be great so far. I don't have any more questions at the moment, but when I do, I'll be sure to contact you for more info! Keep up the hard work!
Hi ElisabethScoggins: It looks like AN took out your friends names, but if they are in the first semester, I know them. :) We are a very tight knit group!
Last year when I received my acceptance letter, it was Friday April 11th. So, I'd put $$ on it that you guys will find out tomorrow :) GOOD LUCK!!
