American River College fall 2015

Published

Anyone applying for Fall 2015 want to share info? Aka share nervous concerns until we find out in a few weeks? ;-p

Hey Izzy, sorry about SCC :grumpy: But on the bright side, Sierra closed their enrollment yesterday...so, yeah, we get to continue feverishly checking our email for another few weeks :bored:

Hey Nikki, it's Sean. Thought you got into ARC ANP for this spring?

I'm racking my brain for a Sean! I'm sorry I can't place who you are with out a face! Maybe you know another Nikki??? This was my first time being able to apply for any programs.

Well this is awkward, lol. I took both Anatomy and Physio with a Nicole M at Sierra a couple semesters back. My bad  But good luck to ya!

Thanks Sean! Love you!! I just didn't expect the rejection to be so difficult. It's really hard on me...like I know it's not personal but I still feel like a loser for some reason. I'll get over it. :)

Hi StacyAnn! I'm in the first semester of ARC's ADN program. I LOVE it. :) I can give you the basics... class schedule is:

Mon- OFF

Tues- 7:30 to 1pm (sometimes 12 pm)

Wed- 7:00 to 1-ish for the first 5-6 weeks, then 7:00 to 10:40 lecture and at 12:00 or so you go to the hospital you're doing clinical at to prep for Thurs & Friday clinical.

Thurs - 6 am - 12pm-ish for the first 5-6 weeks. After the first 5-6 weeks you will start clinical. Depending on the shift you get, it could be 6am - 2pm or 2:30pm to 10:30 pm.

Friday- same as Thursdays. :)

The professors are all FABULOUS. Each has their own teaching style, so you'll have to see for yourself who you'll appreciate the most.

It is VERY challenging. There is a TON of reading and preparation. There's no room for slacking, that's for sure! :) Tests are difficult and your grade in the class is pretty much 90% test grades.

Clinicals are very fun. This semester we have 2 different hospitals and 4 different shifts to choose from. Actually, it's not much of a choice... everyone draws a number, then you sign up for your shift in order. So, if there's 40 people in your class and you draw number 39 or 40, you won't have much choice in which clinical you get. There's 10 students per shift, per hospital.

That's the basics... Is there a specific question you'd like me to answer?

Good luck to you all! I hope to see you next semester. Make sure to sign up for the Student Nurse Association! :)

Wow! Thanks for all the info! Does anybody in your cohort work? I'm a server and I've been trying to figure out if I could manage to work 1 or 2 (4-5 hour shifts) shifts a week at least for the first semester.

So nervous!!!!

I applied at ARC and SCC this semester too and I cannot wait anymore to hear back from ARC….

Still nothing. Wish I had the will power to stop checking for today.

Me too. I keep checking over and over. I guess they're not telling us today?

The worst part is that ARC doesn't send out the rejections for weeks after they send out the acceptances so they could possibly have sent them, just not to us. My guess is they haven't yet though, or someone would be telling us they got in. Just my guess...

ElisabethScoggins, I hope they have not send out the acceptance letters yet. It gives chance to us waiting right?

Yeah I usually don't get my rejection until about a month later. That's why I keep checking to see if anyone got their acceptance.
